Has anyone on this forum done the nav/hack? reason I'm asking is because I'm planning on doing it and having trouble finding a DPDT miniture rocker switch. Do you guys have any idea where i can find one at?

Try another one or order online. I got mine from RS though.

Do you have the instructions? If not, email me and I'll send them to you. I'm over in Augusta. If you have any problems, drive over & I'll see if I can square you away.

Yes, I have the switch I pictured installed in mine. I put in the "wallet" slot just in front of the cup holder.

If I have time, I'll check out the RS where I got mine from to see if they have one this weekend.

I got mine from here, which was on the original instructions.

You should be looking at the 2nd to last C or the 2nd to last D.

I screwed up and ordered the last D (on-off-on), but it worked the same.

Some day, when I'm lonely, i'll replace it with the on-on.

but it works fine for now.

I bought my switch at radio shack...mouser is cheaper, but I needed that instant gratification!

I put mine a the top of the inside part of the center console...small and inconspicuous.

It lets you operate NAV functions that are inaccessible, like entering in new destinations, while driving. It will also alow for video from DVD to displayed on front screen while driving.

My switch is in the center console. See picture. I like it because its completely out of sight unless you open the console. I actually bought the car like this. The only thing I dont like about these switches is that when you turn the switch on it interferes with navigation. It stops my nav arrow on the spot when I hit the switch on and as soon as I turn it off it works fine. A few others I talked to on here said they had the same problem. Is this just a standard thing with all the hack switches? In my old car I installed a hack switch on an aftermarket Pioneer Nav/DVD player and it did not interfere with anything. As matter a fact, it wasnt even a switch. All I did was ground the parking brake wire and I didnt have to mess with anything else to use all functions when driving. If there are others that know how to make the hack not interfere with the nav it would be nice to know how to make it work right.

It may not be your version of right, but it is correct in how it functions with respect to this vehicle

The hack grounds out the "vehicle in motion" sensor. The sensor works in conjunction with the GPS to tell vehicle position. When the vehicle is not in motion, you have access to NAV functions. So with this hack, the GPS thinks the vehicle is not moving and never updates status. Well, it does....but extremely slow. Mine will catch up if I sit for a long time.

Its not really that big a deal, flip the switch, put in your destination, then flip it back. Now I can see where it's a pain being next to your dvd because you constantly have to open the armrest. This was prime reason I did not locate my switch in there.

You are right Jankenpo30. Constantly having to open the armrest does make it a little bit more of a pain. But, I guess I will just have to deal with it. Really, opening up the armrest isnt that much of a hassle if you think about it and I guess its just a matter of being convenient having it where you have it. Its all in preference where you want to put it. I do understand now that it turns the motion sensor off and that is why it wont update constantly when the switch is on. Obviously, the aftermarket nav system I had was different from the factory one in the Infiniti but its still weird that the aftermarket one didnt work in the same way and it was always grounded and the motion sensor was always turned off. Oh well, I guess its just something that we all have to deal with in order to have the hack switch installed. Either way, I would have installed one because it is nice to be able to use these functions while driving if you need to. Im just glad the person who owned it before me already put it in so I didnt have to do it.

I also need to know about this. Could you watch the movie on the front screen? I have the option of adding the Nav/DVD box and control panel from a wreck M. I mainly want it for the DVD if I can watch the movie from the front screen until I find the rear monitor and controls.

Yes New2Import it will show the movie on the front screen when you turn the hack switch on. On how to install the switch as I mentioned on my previous post, mine was already installed so I am not sure. Good luck with the switch.
