My car is a 96 Trans Am with an LT1, 6 speed.

The power adding mods I have done are intake, electric waterpump, and an exhaust cut out.

She managed 290.5 HP and 309.8 TQ, to the wheels.

FYI the car is advertised at 285 hp to the flywheel, and the 6 speeds usually dyno at about 260 er so to the wheel when stock.

I'm impressed with the little amount of work I have into it, I still have MAC headers and 1.6 Roller Rockers to put on her yet.

Just figured I'd pass it along for those who are into dynos n shiat :)

peace.

Yes they are to an extent. They're the same basic motor but it have a few things changed to make sure the vette is actually more powerful and faster out of the box :)

Why would you pay more for a vette when the much cheaper f-body had the same power and speed? Alot of people wouldn't appreciate that. (especially vette enthusiasts)

The equivilant vette in the year of my TA would of had an LT4. They have better roller rockers and springs etc, all of which can be planted right into my engine. Now I'm no vette expert, but I know alot of people do the LT4 upgrade to a car like mine, which puts it in spec of a vette - such as the Hotcam kit you can buy from GM.

I'm just over 60k miles on her now.

She seemed to respond very well to the little mods I've done.

I have the complete suspension done to her, throwing her through the twisties, she reigns supreme :)

Word. Buick is still reeling from the smackdown they got from GM over the GNX. A buddy of mine is a Turbo Buick fanatic. He has an original GNX model and on the front it has a tire smokin' GNX with a corvette way behind. He also has another copy of the same model from several months later. Aparently GM had the model company remove the vette!! Guess it was a BIG deal :D

Great Dyno Numbers though. I probilby spent twice as mutch on my MK1 MR2 (back in the day) to make about 8hp at the flywheel :)

I'm not sure the stock TQ figures for the LT1, I think its like 330 to the flywheel.

I ran my car at the track here but man, I was disappointed. I ran a best of 14.7, but I found out the track elevation is 3500ft above sea level, and that also because of the air density for that day it was listed a lot higher than that. The place where I got her dyno'd the guy said that he's been there nights where the elevation would actually be from 4500 to 6000 ft above sea level cuz of air condition!!!

I checked out a couple of other cars to make sure I wasn't the only slow one, and I was right where I should have been sorta. My 18s SEVERELY hurt my 1/4 times, they're so heavy, no sidewall on the tires to flex for traction....as everyone could see from my 2.4 - 2.5 60' times!!!

I still got my old stock 16" inch rims, going to throw a set of ET Streets or something similar on them and really tear the track up.

Just for an example, a heavily modded Ford Lightning did a best of 13.1, the same truck at sea level ran deep into the 12s. (the performance shop owner was comparing the differences) He said the track I went to is considered a hard track to run at.

But I'm going back tonight hopefully to give it another shot, just wish I had the chance to change my rims and tires for the run :)

Most of the lightly modded imports (i/e etc) were hitting mid to high 16s.

It sure was great fun though.

So which is better? LS1 or LT1?

LS! has a much nicer top end. LT1 just has brute force in your face torque. :)

Granted I've never lost to an LS1 even when it got to the higher speeds, but I chalk that up to person not knowing how to drive :)
