Paul2x:
I have an R32 from RB Motoring, which as you might know was a spin off of Motorex. Totally legal. Anyway, their is another way to get a legalized Skyline: Listen up:
Buy one in Japan, Have the motor, drive train disassembled from the chassis in Japan by a authorized exporter who will give you a "disassembled" certificate. Import the Chassis and Motor/Drive train separately, reassemble, then, and this is only for Cal, be the 1st 500 people into the DMV on the first day of the new year in which the DMV is open and apply for a kit car with all of the above paper work. Then you have a kit car which is legal! A lot of work and some luck but otherwise no dice. The DOT no longer allowed Motorex or any other importer to legalize the Skyline[don't you love the government protecting you from yourself?]and said they would allow the 50+ R32s but no more! Customs look for this car[R32,R33,R34] more than the Porsches!!! Otherwise. find a used G35x, yes I have one of those also, and take it to VRT[VRT.com] and they will install a TT kit from JWT. There is a person who is doing the disassemble act and making kit cars legal without having to be the first 500 at DMV each year. If anyone is interesed, post a reply and I will get the info. Skylines are incredible, right Paul? and worth the effort!
