It's cool to see just where and a tiny bit of how speakers are built. I can say that JL audio doesn't do it like this. That being said I've never ever wanted to buy a JL sub and still don't.

Which means what? You hate a sub you have never used?

Just adding in superfulous information based off the experiences I've had when working on my friends's systems. W0's, W1's, W6's, 10's, 12's and for 1 semester I even had an 18" in my dorm room with an MTX 2300x amp. Wasn't impressed at all with the in-room response or the in-car response.

Do I hate them? No, never said that, just said I never wanted to buy them and never gave a reason

The build quality on a JL is way nicer than what you posted here...Plus, i have used JL since they were being built out the back door of speaker warehouse in the early 90's...nothing but great results time after time and i have literally built thousands of high end setups. JL rocks, always has.

Thanks for adding in your .02. Whatever floats your boat I guess right?

You guys totally took my comment out of context and I never said JL was junk. I've never been impressed with them for the money and am not impressed with their current line-up's T/S parameters...However I have a HT bias because I'm not too concerned with installing some big bread box in my explorer. Adire Audio, Soundspinter, Dayton and Ascendant Audio have much better options for that.

Just get it in your head that JL ownz all!

Kidding.....I can't compare JL to the others. Hell, I can't compare JL to current JL either. My experience is with an original JL 12w6 I picked up in '93. It's unfortunate they used foam surrounds at the time as I need to get the surround replaced. Other than that, 10 years of torture (even over powering and slamming the vc into the back plate) along with what I determine as good sound makes JL a positive in my book. I just wish I had not stuck it in my garage for >3 years to let the surround dry rot. Hopefully, simm can help me restore it along with getting my old PPI A600 repaired. Note: I can get W6 12s all day long for $110 brand new.

W3 12" is $60 brand new.

Ah, I love working for a company that offers accomadations.

At that price you can NOT do any better. So i'll just say, for my money JL is where it's at

I only like their w3, w6, w7 lines that do NOT use the plastic cone. The plastic models are ugly and not very good

W6 V2 or reconed/reconditioned W6 V1?

If 12w6v2, I'd probably be interested if you could get one. Shipping shouldn't be too horribly bad.

Cost on a W6V2 is close to 200 bucks...i doubt he is selling V2's...I just sold 4 that i had laying around in my garage for 100 each brand new. I get lots of $hit givin to me by many companies and after it lays around for a while and i haven't used it, i will sell or give it away. (all depends on how much i like the person, lol.)

JL subs are above reproach. I have had almost everything from their IB8s (old infinite baffle subs) to their monster 18w6 (still one of my all-time favorites). I have always felt that, for the money, the 12w0 is one of the best bargains (sq OR spl per cost of driver) in car audio period.

I will say that I like their sub-drivers more than their amplifiers. But I am a stubborn old-school bastard when it comes to amp quality. I just picked up a Soundstream Picasso (the REAL 4 channel Pure Class A Reference amplifier) from a nut in Austrailia that NEVER USED the bloody thing... not the cheap imitation amps that it's name spawned. Cant wait to see how it stacks up to my PPI Powerclass.

Okay so now that I am so far off topic...

JL subs are good!

I have to be up in NE Indy by 1pm on Friday. Probably be at the exit around 11am-ish to give plenty of time.
