For those with Takeda intakes

Quick question:

How exactly does the 5/8'' barb fitting connect from the OE hose to the other hose Takeda supplied? It seems like a real snug fit so I dunno if that thing is suppose to fit in one of the hoses all the way or what.

I wasn't able to get the hose to fit all the way down the barb connector, but I pushed it down as far as I could. Tugged on it and it didn't feel like it was going anywhere. I haven't had a problem with it yet and I installed my intake about 10 months ago.

So is that what it does? Just connects the hoses?
