i have a set of coilovers with 6/5kg springs. the roads around my way are pretty bad. i try to take it as easy as possible over bad surfaces, or avoid them. i was wondering what kind of affect this type of stuff has as far as wearing down the shocks or damaging them. also, would putting them on a softer setting reduce overall wear?

Nothing will reduce wear! A shock cycles (X number) so many times per mile. It's a wear item just like brakes and tires.

Use them while they're good

Actually, I think those spring rates are too low for JIC FLT-A2's. You might want to call Jic and ask about that. I know that when a buddy of mine had the FLT-A2's, he called and asked what the lowest spring rate was he could use and they told him 7kg front and 6kg rear.
