Well, E85 does use 30% more fuel, though you can sometimes run it a little leaner on cruise to help make up.
And it does eat rubber that is incompatible with alcohol products, but if you've replaced your rubber lines recently (which on these older cars, most have), it shouldn't be a problem (most new rubber hose these days is ok).

I also recall that some byproduct of burning ethanol mixes with water and creates a acid, which over time seeps into the ground... That's not good for the environment, but I don't know how true that is (I'm not a scientist).
