Looking to paint a car in the KH2 Gun Grey Metallic from the R32. The question can you just go to any paint store in the states with that code and buy the paint? My body and paint guy said he don't think that they can mix that up. What have some of you done that have resprayed or touched up your skylines with oem paint codes out of japan? Also we are heading up to paint shop today so I might answer my own question today but I still want to hear what others have to say. Thank you in advance.

Find another Paint shop. KH2 is not hard to replicate I had a paint guy do it here. All paint shops that are good can match any paint, thats their job!!! I believe, unsure but Nissan even sells that paint here in USA

THe standard "Nissan Gunmetal Grey" is pretty much dead on the KH2.
THat's what the guy used on my bumper and it's a perfect match.....though he did look up the actual KH2 code to match it up first.

Thanks for the replies. Ya I figured they could color match it but mines not that color now and I am doing a complete color change. But we went up to the paint shop today and KH2 is available in the states. There are 4 variants to it. I would be going with the standard version of it. I'm gonna take up a list of Skyline codes and she if she can mix me up some midnight purple II.

If you're not having to match original parts, then just have them do "Nissan Gunmetal Grey"...you'll not tell the difference.

Thats what I will be doing. KH2 is in Nissans scheme of colors in the US. I'm going to see what else is hidden in Nissan USA codes I did see millenium jade as well.

Jade, as in a jade / emerald green?
Hrm...love the color, but that'd be funky on a R32.

I'm trying to come up with a 2-tone of the KH2 grey and black for if/when I repaint my car.

It's called millenium jade but its only got like a jade pearl to it or something because it looks silver. Personally I'm not a fan of two tones at all. If anything I would take a stock R32 color and add some pearl to it if anything, but I'm in love with the KH2 color code all on it own. Don;t get me wrong tho some two tones do look decent. I also did a search on two tone R32 Gtr's but couldn't get a good enough pic to post

AH.

That's not too bad.

Not sure it'd work on an R32 though....at least, not work for me. :)

Ya prolly not for me either but it is a decent color. I didn't mean to be confusing it wasn't a color choice of mine or anything. I just noticed it in the book when she was looking up kh2.

I'm really getting into the idea of a 2-tone with the KH2 and black.

I just can't think of a design.
Simple over/under seems too basic, but I don't want generic Mustang-style stripes or some retro-70's angled line on the side, either.
Not sure. But got time, since I doubt I'll be repainting it until next year anyway.

Have u thought about doing the kh2 with black pearls in the clear coat so it would look like the kh2 or black depending on angle.

Hrm...the black pearl idea has merit.

Ya it's a good idea lol, I've actually thought about freshening up my winter car after this winter and I was thinking pink on it. Its a 96 Chevy Monte Carlo. It gets its job done.

It does have lots of potential. I was talking to my paint and body guy and he was trying to get me to switch to that after I told him about it. He said he couldnt think of any two tone that in his opinion would look like it belonged on a skyline but this pearl idea sounds good. I could actually show you what it would look like. The place he gets the paint from is super cool and I could get a little pint of it and enough pearl to have him spray it on a sample piece.
