DISCLAIMER:

I have a bunch of pictures and video that I've been meaning to post, but I'm too lazy. I don't have an easy way to upload either, so they come trickling in.

This past weekend I dewaxed, clay barred, then waxed my G (she needs a name). This was what the clay bar looked like from doing just half of the roof.

Camera on the phone kinda sucks, but you can still see all of the crap it pulled up...I think it's mostly tree sap. I ended up going over it 2 more times. Each time it has more speckles or just general discoloration.

Other picture to follow (probably in other threads).

I think it was hard water spots (not hard rain) or maybe acid rain. Just a few. Nothing would lift them. This ScratchX got the nasty stuff off!! I picked it up at Autozone

Rich,

I'll keep that in mind. I think I'm going to prep my front bumper for a complete repaint. If I had the money, I'd do something interesting...but...meh.

I think the Zaino will be my next product to try out.

Clay bars work, plain and simple. However, they do remove wax and are mild abrasives (some more than others). So it should only be done periodically. Perhaps in conjunction with typical waxing schedules (6 months to a year) depending on local conditions.

Thanks Chano,

I did 2 or 3 days of research on them before I even touched one. I usually remove the wax first, then use the clay bar.

Zaino is WAY overrated.

All you need is right here: http://www.griotsgarage.com/

The fine hand polish and best of show wax.

You should mold the clay so your clay surface is clean as you go so you don't have all of that stuff rubbing on the clear coat.

That was from a few back and forths the first time on half of the roof. I'm not stupid PB&J lol

I reworked it after every pass to keep a clean surface (obviously using the back side first, then reworking).
