Correct, NYC got hit VERY hard. I live about 90 minutes away but work in the city, I take the commuter train each way every day, and it looks like I will be working from home at the minimum for the rest of the week. Most of the tunnels are flooded, all bridges were closed yesterday, millions of people without power, the entire transit system has been shut down since Monday with no set time for the trains to get going again; limited bus service expected later today.
Some towns had water that filled the first floor of there homes, I even saw where a 700 ton (yes ton) tanker is aground in Staten Island.
One town in Long Island has been told not to use the town water, even to take a bath as the filtration system is down. In Queens, I believe 50 homes were destroyed by fire because the fire department couldn't get to them due to down trees.

The boardwalk in Atlantic City, NJ is just about gone with other towns in NJ powerless.
Thankfully we never lost power
