I was on E-bay reminiscing about older cars I use to have and cars I remember from my childhood and I ran across this. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...wItem A 1973 Pontiac Grand Prix with 7288 original miles. If that's accurate, than that's impressive. I like the black on black. You didn't see that much in the 70's. The car is minty fresh, like the day it rolled out of the dealer. A bit of rust in the engine bay, but the rest of the car looks great. I know that every piece of rubber on this car is vaporized, but it's nice that there are still some prime examples of some cars that I grew up with. Reminds me of dad's 1972 Olds Delta 88 coupe that he use to have when I was a kid. He had the Olds before the 79 Impala that became my first car. There's just something cool about those big boats from the 70's that have a special place in my heart. Check out the link. Lots of cool pictures.

Had a friend that had one of those with the 421SJ. His was white, but I don't remember the interior, maybe dark blue or black. 3 speed auto and solid cast iron rear axle. Brakes were OK for the time, negligible for today.

OK, for a boat, but I have fond memories of these cars only until I drive one and realize a lot of econo boxes can out perform them today. and the build quality was laughable if you didn't own it. Misery if you did.

I love the point on the hood (reminds me of the 90-93 Q) and the rear wheel arch. With a little love, it could be a monster.

Gorgeous car.

Makes me REALLY, REALLY want to get another 68-69 Buick A-body (but this time, a droptop).

I used to have a sweet 1973 442, with a BUILT 455 Super Duty Pontiac Motor. I bored it out .060, and shaved the heads. The compression ratio was 12.3:1 I ahd to run 103+ octane in her. I had a built Turbo 400 long shaft transmission and a custom balanced hardened steel driveshaft.

I twisted 3 driveshafts off drag racing her. She would out run ALL Buick Grand Nationals in the 1/8 mile. I could beat any Camaro, Firebird, or Corvette made in the 80's. (Not that that is such a big deal)

When I got married, I lost interest in racing and she sat for 12 years. I ended up giving her away to a friend, who traded her for an X-box.

I miss the old girl.

Haha, too funny. If only cars were worth as much to others as they are to ourselves.

Greg, great pics! Your old Buick looked kick a$$, especially the engine. Too bad you don't have it any more. Why you get rid of it, man? Yea, next time it has to be a rag top.

Just last night i took the firebird on its maiden voyage after getting the motor rebuilt and spending about 2 months putting it in/ordering expensive parts that got lost in the process...it only lasted about five minutes due to the fact that it reaches 250 degrees in about 10 minutes(still running the stock radiator)

i should post some pics....god that rumble is orgasmic

This is a great post! I love these old cars, I was recently in Maui and I saw a complete opposite of the car that is here. It was a 1976 GRand prix that was left abandoned on a Mountain, which apparently had no road way to get there, locals think that it was helicoptered up there. But no one really knows the story for sure. Its a shame how it was left there to crumble.

I was able to hike up there and snap a few pics, even got my self a "Body by Fisher" door sill tag as a little keepsake.

My boss at the Mobil Gas station (my first job-15yrs old in 1973) had a 69 Grand Prix SJ (421 big block w/quadrajet 4 bbl carb) . It was our "part's car".....yeah, he let me drive it to go to the parts store to get parts!!!!!Man could that car run!!!!!!!!! Our next "parts car" was a 66 mustang.....6cylinder 200, automatic, 2.89 rear end, baby blue coupe....not really a very "hot" model at the time. Ended up selling it to me for $500. only had 61,000 miles. Gues it was too slow for a parts car!!!! but it was great for back and fouth to college.
