Interesting, I just blew the plug fuse on my Versa.

However, my wife and I have the same cell phones and chargers, and I took her charger because she was blowing fuses on *her* car. It worked fine in my car for a week...then I just, literally, TOUCHED it and I heard a "pop" from the fuse block. Sure enough, fuse had blown.

I autopsied the power plug, and there was a bit of loose plastic rattling around inside. My guess is that the loose plastic previously helped insulate some wires/contacts in the plug, and with the plastic broken, parts were coming together under particular loading conditions.

One interesting note: I'd spent a few sessions trying to troubleshoot the fuse-blowing problems on my wife's car (a Lexus RX300). It uses a 15 amp ATM-size (very tiny spade-connection) fuse for the power socket...and it turned out that those 15A ATMs were almost impossible to find. I went to about four auto stores before I found one that had them in stock.

When the V's fuse blew, I took a look...you guessed it, 15 amp ATM. My favorite autopart store was still out of them in 2-4 packs, but they had a 25-pack for $8. Figured the way my luck was going...

I'm wondering if the shortage of 15A ATM fuses might be related to a LOT of people having problems with cell phone chargers, in different cars.

One interesting observation: The Versa's cabin fuse block has an empty fuse socket right next to the power-jack one. Good place to store an extra fuse.
