Depends on how much boost you run at. If you run low then you should be ok. The clutch should be ok for awhile though but I'd recommend swapping it out at some point.

... and yes, I have the SFR kit but I purchased it from a guy on here for like almost half the price after he upgraded to a Z.

Well, they have to take the transmission out to get to the clutch but 14 does sound like a bit overkill. I'll talk to my shop on what they think... As for the turbo, I had it installed for $1400 total. Can't remember how many hours that was though.

The only other thing I had done was install a temp gauge for the cvt transmission cooler when I had the CVT but that doesn't apply to you.

As for the clutch, I don't know yet. Haven't had the chance to talk to my shop yet.

Well, it never fully died to be honest. I could still drive it... From what my transmission shop told me the belt probably got stretched a bit due to the torque so that's why I was experiencing some slippage when driving it. But the first sign of it appeared about 6 months after the turbo install.

There's one guy in Cali that had his turbo put on a little before mine and he's holding up fine. But from what I know he's the only one that has held up.

Yes I believe they do. I hear the 2013+ altimas will have stronger/improved CVT's so that will help some but I'd be hesitate about boosting it unless you seriously upgrade the CVT.

New belt, upgrade the torque convertor and get a transmission cooler. Those are really the main options but good luck finding a place that is knowledgeable on the CVT, it won't be easy.

Where can you find these things? Ive been looking for a thicker / new belt, and a higher output torque convertor, but can't see it anywhere. :poke:

SFR knows, lulz... Besides them, I'd just call around local transmission shops and hope that you'll find one that could help you.

Updated: total hours for clutch install should be 12.3 hours, most shops will quote that however a Nissan tech friend tells me it's actually 10 hours. But if you have a turbo kit like me then 12.3 sounds right.

So for clerification, you swapped to a 6sp and you have a spec clutch and flywheel?....I am looking to get rid of the lousy stock setup and put something aftermarket in on my 2007 sedan 3.5 6 spd.....I have heard no feedback on if the spec clutch or flywheel actually fits. I want a single mass clutch with slightly more bite than stock....could you fill me in please.

To clarify, the SPEC flywheel DOES NOT fit our cars! I had to return mine and did get a refund.

I am not sure on the SPEC clutch since I didn't order one but my guess is that it won't fit either. If you go to their site they don't even have anything listed for the 3.5 anymore so my guess is that they realized it didn't fit at one point for our year model range and took it down.

Honestly, the cvt are not meant for boost unless the come out of the factory with a turbo and are built for the extra power output. For the price of a new upgraded cvt just upgrade to a 6 spd mt. A lot of money will be saved in the long run.

No, trade the car in for an MT equipped car or another MT car rather than going through the costly swap.
