Hey guys, this is the Speeddoctor! Thanks for all of the nice things that you all said! I am sorry that I have been absent...a complicated mix of no time, household internet down and moderate burnout (ie usually, I drop into bed after the kids go to bed...the new practice has really worn me out... but now, it is stabilizing and I am getting more time and energy.
I really want to thank each and every one of you for supporting NICO. Greg, thank you for all you have done!!! Greg and I have a lot in common. I want to add my perspective to Greg'g blurb on my visit to Phoenix in another post later this weekend. I had a great time...I just about died when his wife Stacey showed me her NICO fingernails!!!! AWESOME!
In the next few months, I hope to post some articles (the first is the write up on the M30)...and I want to revive an ongoing Nissan/Datsun history/trivia section that lets you all show how much you know! The articles are easier for me to do than to be on the forums. I will skate through the forums on occassion.
The R33 will be getting its bumper back on, it fits right over the intercooler..I have just waited to put it back on until I finish the hardpipe kit.
With regard to our "drooling CyFy"...I will arrange for us to talk by phone re the M30...but, re suspension...the M30 now, has a really nice coilover system....NOW.. the first go around was done by someone other than myself and it was a disaster!!!. To do this right..it takes more than just picking junk off of ebay. The car was almost undrivable. The second go around was done by moi after brushing up on my books on spring and shock technology.
I have the front done and now will attack the rear. The front uses7 inch Eibach coil overs, 450 spring rate. . I matched these with a Koni adjustable insert that allows you to adjust for rebound ($157 EACH) i HAD TO GIVE gORDON AT kONI THE APPROXIMATE DEMeNSIONS OF THE INSERT AND HE CAME UP WITH THE PART NUMBER: #86101149. Roughly 13 one and half inch diameter shims need to be placed inder the cartridge so it sits at the right height in the shock housing. Follow the install directions as per Koni. The shock mount center hole will then need to be drilled out to 5/8 of an inch to allow the shock's stud to come through and seat on its shoulder properly. THis is a great set up and is much less expensive than the only available kit for the car which would be the JIC kit from Japan at $2500. Total cost for the front was 157 X 2 + $90 for the pair of springs= $404 total for the front.
Beat wishes to you all!!! Speeddoctor:D
