Here is what I read of the MTX site.

Specifications:

RMS Power 12.5 VDC 2 Ohm Load 180 w x 2 4 Ohm Load 90 w x 2 Bridged 4 Ohm Load 360 w

Dynamic Power 14.4 VDC 2 Ohm Load 250 w x 2 4 Ohm Load 125 w x 2 Bridged 4 Ohm Load 500 w

Now what do they mean by "DYNAMIC" power...?? That has to be "PEAK" power, not RMS cause if it was rms, they would have written down RMS power at 14.4 volts.... Right...??If im right, then i obviously bought the wrong amp for my sub and im WAY under powering it...

Not sure this is a MTX question. It is unusual to see the list the 12.5 and 14.4 ratings as different "types".

Let me ask what sub are you powering and which MTX amp are you using?

I have the Premier 12 inch sub which handles 500 watts RMS and 1000 watts peak, here is the link to it:

http://www.pioneerelectronics....onent

And i have the MTX Thunder502 which is the above specs you just read. Thats why I bought it cause it said 500 watts bridged at 4 ohms, but now im thinking that it meant 500 PEAK watts... IF so, then im under powering the sub and could be getting more.

If your signal's clean, correctly crossed-over and the box is the right size (built to subs specs) you should be in good shape. I wouldn't want to push much more power than that to a non-competition sub.

Does it sound weak or like something's wrong?

MTX uses an unregulated power supply. It will put out it's max power at 14+ volts. At 12 volts it puts out less power. This kind of power supply is in contrast with a fully regulated power supply that will, from 10-14+ volts produce the same amount of power (watts). Some amplifier companies have made a mixed regulated/unregulated power supply. It will provide the same amount of power under 12 volts, but then provide more power from 12 volts to 14+ volts. Hope that clarifies some of that a bit.

Well my question was, Is this 325 watts @ 14.4 volts..... PEAK or RMS....???

If this amp is NOT putting out 325 watts RMS at 14.4 volts, then im getting rid of it.. Ill go and get an amp that will push out 450+ watts RMS.. and get the most out of this sub...

I cant seem to find anyone that will give me a direct answer, not even MTX..

It most certainly does 325w at 14.4, but I bet your car operates between 13.8 and 14. i'd keep that amp if it was me. All things being equal, the difference between 325 and 450 watts on subs is not noticable to the human ear.

it is rms. i have a mtx 512 and the readings for the amp come in the 12v and 14v ratings that u see. and yes u can tell the difference. for instance with my car, when my volt meter is reading 14v, the sub hits hard enought to rattle the other guy's rear view mirror. now when my voltmeter is reading 12v, the bass does hit hard but not as hard as when the voltmeter reads 14v.

Well, I FINALLY got a LIVE person from MTX and this is what he told me:

The 12 volt ratings are all RMS numbers..The 14.4 volt ratings are all PEAK numbers..

So, now i know im way under powering my amp..

14.4v rating is the Maximum RMS power you will get. Above 14.4v, the amp puts out no more power. At 12v, (actual usable voltage) you will at least get what the rated power is.

Since our nissans run at an ambient voltage of around 13.6v, your actuall wattage will be above your 12v rating, but below your 14v rating.

12v rating is
