Hi ppl,

I am in the process in buying a new car (I have a 97 Prelude) and I am seriously considering the G35. The price range I am targeting is between 24-29k (canadian) and that puts me in the 2003-2004 model range. I was wondering if the 2003 is safe to buy since most of the times, first years are the ones with the most "problems". Should I go for 2004 instead? And are the G35s mostly maintenance free? (apart from the regular stuff of course) Any particularities that I should be aware of?Thanks for you help. You feedback will greatly determine if I buy one or not .... and I REALLY want one

Welcome to NICO!

The G35 uses one of the best engines in the world, the VQ35. Maintenance problems are usually limited to consuming oil, but that's spread throughout the model years. The 03 has some issues with brake dust and tire feathering. Certainly not a deal-breaker. Most of that was fixed in the 05s.

I recommend you buy the newest model you can afford, with the lowest miles. Take a look around the forum, we have discussed this topic numerous times
