There are a few out there that have lowered their cars, many have expressed interest. But I don't recall anyone mentioning alignments.

I recently had the unpleasant task of replacing my 2 rear tires due to uneven wear on the inside edges - although I think this is partly due to the stock infiniti camer - where the rear wheels are tilted in towards the top - making the inside edge have more contact with the ground. I also think it was partly due to me not getting an alignment soon after my new wheels and potholes knocking the car out of spec.

I'm assuming that an alignment is recommended for a drop.

So the questions are:Are folks getting alignments on their new drops? Are their any issues aligning a lowered car? The tires you save may be your own!!!!

I had mine aligned simply because you have to take the strut off and reinstall it. No matter how you mark it before ripping it out, there's always the chance that it might not be back within specs. That and combining the nature of dropping a car and the slight camber change, you might have the right mixture for some problems. I don't know what kind of tire you're running but $70 for the alignment or whatever they charge you vs. wearing a set of Pirelli Zero Nero's prematurely gives me great peace of mind for spending the money. Even if it doesn't pull, you camber could naturally wear the tire unevenly

Cali,

There's been a bit of discussion on the topic. In general, there have been two schools of thought, one to align immediately after the drop, the other to align after about 100 or so miles to let any latent settling occur.

But, overall, alignment has been a consistent choice amongst the majority. I aligned after 130 miles.

Hope this helps,-- Wind

I honestly think it is a personal choice. From my understanding, these cars do not need alignments at all after lowering. I will let you all know what I decide to do after I get my springs installed. I would rather be safe than sorry I suppose.

Take it easy all.

I just got my springs installed today, the car is noticeably out of alignment when i take my hands off the wheel but its not "diving". After 2 weeks (100-150 miles), when the springs are well set in, I plan on aligning the car!!!

I installed the springs on my own, drove it about 400 miles, then had it aligned. Noticed the brakes "chattered" a little at high speeds before the alignment, now, everything is perfectly smooth, gotta love the ride of the eibachs.

I opted for the lifetime alignment plan at firestone cuz I plan on getting 18's for summer and keeping my 16's as winter tires. This way I pay once and can get an alignment every time I swap out wheels.

Its debatable, do it if you want, just know there is a risk of uneven tire wear if you don't. Getting your tires rotated every 5,000 miles or so will help you too.

completely off topic, but windhaven, I like your car more and more everytime I see it... if my wheels get damaged, without hesitation, I will be getting the 19" MODAS

From what I recall, according to Stillen there is no need for an alignment because the drop is Mild and not Wild. I've Driven the car for over 500 miles and no need for alignment' drives as straight as the crack in my A** .. J/K.... but seriously I checked it top to bottom and tires are straight, no uneven wear and does not slide to the side while driving at all. I'm getting my Wheels this week and that's when I'll get an alignment and balance.

i dont see you getting any tire wear from just 100-500+ miles, if you leave it on long enough without alignment, then after 3000+ miles then you might see some camber wear....but then again, you could always get nitto neo gens which have harder compound on the inside of the tire

Good so I think it was good idea to start this discussion - based on the responses - folks have different opinions as to whether the alignment is necessary or not.

Niztec - you must be inside my head - I saw an ad for the Nittos yesterday -and I notice the inside edge of the tires - I may go for these next when I replace all four Kumho's.

If you trust the person who installs the springs (mainly the front) or personally make sure you take very good care in marking the position of the strut for reinstallation, then by all means skip the alignment. The no need for alignment augment based upon the mild or wild is that you will naturally get negative camber out of lowering the car, just not a lot out of this drop. If you bolt the strut right back in place then I guess you'd be fine. I'm just not a fan on the, let's wait and see philosophy
