Thought I would start a new thread so you could see this question easily.

Why do you recommend a 94-95 Q? I was hoping to use a 90-91 since they are less expensive. (about $2,500 less by my research). I dont care if the ABS and traction control work. Can I hot wire the pump to run full speed all the time?

I have the chance to buy back the 1990 from the friend I sold it to 4 years ago. Perfect paint, but tt needs struts, a brake job and a front seat, but has no accidents and it otherwise in good shape(and a 10 disc cd changer, yeah!). It is $2800 and has about 160k miles.

Thanks

Doesn't matter which year, thinking of newer paint body etc.

Struts and brakes are easy! I would go with the newer is better. I have a 94 and it has been a very reliable and nice ride.

The fuel pump in the Q is the same unit I am running in my car. I have mine running off of a solid 12v feed. The only problem is the puny FPR on the fuel rail can't redirect enough fuel so the pressure builds at idle causing the engine to stutter and stall when off it's cold idle.

Then again I don't have a V8 to feed, and you have two FPRs to my single.

I would find the ECU fuel pump signal wire and run it directly to the fuel pump, from there just bypass the controller and ground the fuel pump.

It will supply about 500rwhp of boosted VG running 13.5 - 14 volts.

Thanks for the great info on the fuel pump. Good to know I can use the stock pump. I pick am picking up a 1990 Q Thursday.
