I bought my 2000 Corvette with 108k on the odometer in early 2007 from a friend. He had just finished installing a Procharger D1SC Supercharger two months before. The car made 480rwhp, 450rwtq @ 8psi on a conservative tune with only LG longtube headers as the only other power mod. The picture taken is just when I got off my lazy butt and took pictures.
At 118k I lost an idler pulley on the supercharger due to the bearings wearing out(my friend had bought a used supercharger kit that had 6k miles prior to being installed on this car). This is the only failure I've had in 16k miles and over 30 months of ownership(it's been my daily driver). Fortunately I was only 30 or so miles from home but it still sucked.
At just shy of 124k miles, I had the Cartek Flip-Drive and water/methanol injection system installed then had the car retuned @ RPM Motors in Santa Clarita. Again, I requested a safe tune as I've never been one to baby my cars. I did these mods more for reliability sake, but knew I would pick up some more power due to added boost from the flip drive, and higher octane from 100% meth.
Somehow the original clutch is still hanging on too, then again I don't do burn-outs so that might have something to do with it. Most of my driving is canyon carving or desert back roads chasing after Z06s, ZR1s and other Supercharged C5s.
The point to my thread, is to educate people about how strong the stock engine really is. Dozens if not hundreds of LS owners, have hit well over 600rwhp(several have hit over 700!) on pump gas once they're willing to start digging into the heads/cam/intake manifold. Granted, we can't run 20+ psi of boost on the stock pistons and our compression ratios are much higher(10.1:1 on LS1s and 10.5:1 on LS6s), but these motors respond extremely well to boost, whether it's through turbos or superchargers. If you're willing to leave the engine stock and not beat on it every chance you get, 300k miles isn't out of the question. A friend of mine just hit 100k miles on his 2007 C6 Z06 Sunday with the only problem being a bad oil pressure sending unit at 96k miles.
Hopefully this wasn't a wasted click, and happy modding.
