hey i was wondering if any1 was running 2 10 inches and if you are what box are you using or did you have it custom made? i checked around my area and they dont do it they told me their wasnt a market and if i wanted it would be about 400$ for a wooden box and 1200$ for fiberglass so any ideas? i checked the height and it looks like anything under 29 cm's in height would clear

Im going to have a single JL W3 10" in the trunk in a few weeks. Currently Im waiting on my local shop to make me a custom box because I could not find any quality boxes that would fit and had the correct volume. They are charging me 100 bucks to make it (.67 ft^3 and 3/4 MDF) and carpet it, so 400$ for a wooden box, even if it has 2 10's seems high.

When you said you checked around, do you mean just the audio places? If so, you should look at woodworking shops, they can also make great boxes if you give them some plans (and possibly materials to save a little) and should definately cost less than 400.

The other routes you could take would be to make the box yourself, be it fiberglass or wood (if you have access to the tools and materials). There are tons of tutorials on either type on the web, and probably on the forum.

Last ditch effort would be to look to purchase something from on online vender. Im always somewhat wary of this becuase I don't get to physically see what im buying, and the box is just as important as the sub when it comes to sound quality.

hopefully these will help. Ive seen their boxes and they are "good" quality. not exactly the stuff you're gonna see in a show car, but they're sonically accurate and hold together very well, an most importantly, are some of the least expensive boxes you can find pre made on the internet.

$400 is WAY too much for a wooden box, almost to the point of stupidity. even $100 is far too much to spend unless you're going for a super high quality AND custom installed unit.

For a noob, and trust me, when you're still learning the ropes with audio and wiring theres NOTHING wrong with it, ask TONS of questions. Im sure when drfeelgood signs on he'll have tons of info for u, but for now keep the questions coming and the end result will be awesome.

And back to topic, under yor factory 6x9s theres about just under 12 inches of space, but if u dont care much for trunk space, u can fit a much bigger box farther back, just remember that dynamat is your best friend with anything over 300 watts rms.

Have you considered putting two seperate boxes in the backseat?

I bought mine a year ago for 150 + tax for a 2 12"sub vented box. Im selling it locally for 50 lol. But yeah 400 is way to much. Fiberglass seemed high priced as well here in UT u can get fiberglass enclosure for 700 cash. Anyway good luck to you. check around tho for a better price. lol.

Honestly, let me tell you, don't buy boxes from sonic electronix, or anything else for that matter. I purchased an amp and a sub box from them, bother were mislabeled on their website. The box was bigger than stated (didn't fit in the A/C trunk), and the amp was misrated on their website. I've been trying to return this stuff to them, and they are causing huge headaches, wont pick up calls in the warranty department, and wont reply to emails. Watch out for sonicelectronix.

Yea their service is definitely not close to many other internet vendors, although I have more of a problem with the boxes themselves. I called to get more information on one of their sub enclosures because their information on their website was essentially non existent. Well, the person I spoke to told me that they didn't know know anything more than what was on the site and that I should contact the manufacturer. Well I did....er, I tried. The website was parked, and the phone line was out of service.

Bottom line is, don't skimp on the box....but don't spend 400$ either 200-250 TOPS should get you a high quality wooden custom box from someone.

is the g35 coupe trunk the same size at the altima because i saw boxes on ebay for sale that sat in perfectly where it was triped and fit right under the speakers and boxed up the whole area for 2 10's and i wasnt even checking audio shops they were kind of like performance garages, best buy was ridiculous because the guy didnt even know what he was talking about to me and he wanted me to pay 800$ for installation lmfao for the dash kit and wires and to buy a box from them.. the other shops i went to told me about 400$ for installation but it was to change all the speakers as well, are the subs worth it though? because in the end of i cant find a box im not ppayin 400$ for a box to be fabricated

There may be a higher chance to find a pre-made box that fits in your trunk if you have only one 10" sub instead of two. Just a suggestion..

Ok I am not even interested in adding subs but I think if someone could come of with some plans for mounting the 2 10" woof or even 12" in the very back side corners of the trunk facing the cab, that would be fin awesome placement, if you dampen the sound hittign the metal from the inside it should provide some concrete thumping bass depending on your amp size... amps can be mounted almost anywhere but my first choice would be to mount it on the underside of the trunk lid with a cord running alongside the license plate cords. Think about how BA that would look when you opened the trunk and guess what you would still be able to slide them groceries back there, lol... I am a genious... patent pending fools LOL

I have 2-10w3v2 JL subs in a custom sealed enclosure that was made for a 350Z... fits like a glove and looks awesome! Sounds even better. I will post pics maybe tomorrow.

You also have to watch phase cancellation with opposite firing subs. Just a thought...

Mazda2005 just posted a new thread, and linked this page. it the ebay custom sub box for the g35 listed above, but now they have the a/c and altima sedan a well it seems. it seems like its a simple plan, and im not up for spending $40 on shipping alone.

thanks man, yea i dont think its twice as large, but its quite large.. i could prob sleep comfortably in an empty altima trunk hahabut the best part is that i pushed the box back into that little hole and it fit like a glove.
