hey devious,

ive installed a ka24 carbed w/nismo manifold and 44 mikunis. new streeter cam from nismo. problem i have is in regards to the distributor. i am installing this thing in a 1985 nissan 720 truck. was wondering cause the connection on the distributor has the crank angle sensor that is linked to the ecu. i was wondering if i could eliminate the pin that goes to thecrank angle sensor and still be able to run this dist. or do i have to go with the old school L20 dist.? hope you could help me on this.

sincerely,

mario

Without control from the oem ka24e ecu, that distributor will not work. The l20b vac distributor is the simplest option, although ill agree its not a great one.

There is some aftermarket 4 cyl L series HEI distributors floating around, i dont think these are still available new but not certain. I would definately go with a programmable ignition of some sort for the best performance. You could even modify the oem distributors with magnets or trigger wheels to feed common systems, like HEI for instance.

Early l20b distributor is just the easy way out, If i were you id have one on hand anyways because they are so simple to hook up. Also when your using a L series distributor, you also have to use the l series distributor shaft as the key is different.

Ill keep my eye out, I may be able to lend some better advice later.

thanks devious for your help

i have an l20 distiributor from and 1980 l20 truck and of course its spindle. only problem im facing is that i might have to fabricate a new plate to mount the l20 dist. on the ka24 timing cover due to the different alignment of mounting bolts for the distributors. ill be using an msd 6al to juice it up a bit on the spark. hey thanks again for your help.

Seen one blue one in a tumon car show that was runnin the stock. couldnt rev and they locked the timing to full advnce. I think there is a certain msd that you can program your curve with stock dist or you can run the electromotive. I think both are xpnsive.
