For costs reasons, I think I'm going test pipe instead of a new cat

All the pricing I've been doing for my 240sx that has had a leaky catalytic converter since I got it, (leaking big time around the flanges) I'm going to get a test pipe.

I can not justify spending over half of the $330 purchase price of the entire car...for a small exhaust piece. So for now I'll have to live with a test pipe, I can get it for 39 bucks CANADIAN from NAPA, those suckers sell for like 35 bucks US on ebay...

While I'm at it I'm cutting that f'n resonator out, and for now keeping my stock muffler....maybe change that later.

There are some really cheap cat's on ebay that are made by a decent company, about the same price as what your looking at for a testpipe. They don't have flanges though.

The local shop here in this small but very rich oil city I live in, charges 100 bucks an hour labour. For them to remove whats there and weld in a new cat cuz it has no bolt on flanges....i'll be paying quite a bit more in the end.

thats why the bolt on 39 CDN dollar test pipe seems good for now. just hope it doesn't smell too bad. but then again its leaking that much right now...30 percent of it aint even going through the cat!

we have no emissions testing laws here....and well when I re-register the car no one actually looks at my car.

Now if a cop stopped me and looked underneath and gave me a fix it ticket....thats different :)

I hope they do. And while you're at it come to the oil plant I work on and take a nice deep breath of whats pumping out of here. Where my car spendds 90% of its time.

Chances are after winter I probably will be putting on something more professional.

One of the greatest sources of TV entertainment is the car chasesthat seem to be you Cali's favorite way of relieving your frustration. Steal, or carjack a car and head for the freeway then the rest of us can sit back and be in wonder of it all. Even a battletank. Talk about emissions !!!

Man, you folks got some cahs ovah dare. Helicopters too, withno emission controls, to record the action and show the rest of ushow the driving conditions are.

Have a good lungfull for the Gipper. RAP:pface

What in the hell?

Why don't you explain that and how it pertains to what I said? A Battle Tank? LOLWTF.

I think he's referring to California's pollution and crime problems.

I remember the chase where the cops chased the tank too! They capped that idiot though.

I'm gonna assume he's joking, you were right?
