Don't have much info but it looks like Nissan will be bringing out a new work van to compete against the Econoline, the Express/Savana twins and the Dodge/Freightliner/Merc-Benz Sprinter. From what I've read it will be powered by the VK56DE or the VK56VD(hopefully the VD), and the VQ40DE.

It has a lot of "Americanized" styling, doesn't look weird like some foreign work vans(Sprinter). I think it should compete very well. Who knows maybe there's still hope for a next gen Titan that's actually built by Nissan(I love that truck <3).

More info here(too lazy to go through it all)

If it is old news/repost, I'm sorry. It was news to me, plus I didn't see anything on NICO about it. It's still a Nissan, as boring as it might be.

a titan-cube lovechild, and a titan-sprinter lovechild? meh.

nissan is attempting to enter a market that american automakers have in a choke hold. call me a naysayer, but tbh, i don't think they have a chance.

Maybe, maybe not. If / when GM and Chrysler folds, it would be nice to already have a standing in the industry. Can't let Ford have the monopoly.

American brands might have a strong presence, but it's no chokehold. If Mercedes Benz can sell the Sprinter under THREE different brands here, Nissan can definitely be successful with the NV.

The concept van was old news, but official details on the production models were just announced yesterday.

do you think the sprinter would have sold as well had it been badged as an mb? the majority of the people buying these types of vehicles are working class americans (or the companies they work for). these people are mostly interested in buying american, think building trades and the union shops that are involved in that industry.

consider the company i work for. construction sub-contractor that is 100% union, save for the handful of office broads. 90% of our field employees drive american vehicles as their personal vehicles. 100% of our purpose built fleet (pick-ups, vans, box trucks) are american. they always will be. go to any construction site, you'll be hard pressed to find a vehicle that sports a foreign automaker's badge on it.

i'm not saying that nissan won't sell these vans, but their largest group of buyers will be "joe shmoe's plumbing" that may be able to buy one now, maybe a second in a few years when a current working vehicle will need more repairs to stay running than is worth.

Yeah, you've got a good point. Most of the Sprinters I see are Dodges or Freightliners, not MBs.

I see a surprising amount of Tundras driving around with company paint jobs, though, so as long as Nissan offers this with the right packaging (lots of variants, super-stripper interiors, etc.) I think they'll do fine.

The new front design looks similar to the older GMC fronts IMO...
