ok i have asked a few times about this weird idle problem that no mechanic could figure. i think it is a vacume leak but i dont have the vacume diagram. what happens is after the car heats up and i shut if off and let is sit for about 20 minutes more or less and go to start it up again the idle will start at 1500rpm the go up to 2000 rpm and does that continually about 5-10 times. i have to let the car do that before i start to drive it because if i dont the car will drive itself. in first gear the car will actually just drive down the street without me touching the gad pedal at about 10 mph. so if i let it do the stupid idle thing before i drive it anywhere it wont do it. i was looking around the engine today and say a little black hose that was rotted away. i dont know what this hose is so i am asking all of you masterminds on here.

the hose leads into this silver saucer type looking thing that sits on the right rear side of the intake and it has 2 small black tubes that go into the top of it. could someone please tell me what this is and where to get replacement parts. (sorry if this sounds like i am drunk but i am not very good at explaining stuff on the internet)

I was having the same kind of proplem with my car but i had a bad vacum line on the master cylinder. I would go and drive my car and it would die i couldnt figure it out for the longest time but then i found that line and when it was idling i opened it up and my died so i got a new line and for the car driving on its own check your idle position on your throttle body or check you idle line to where it goes into a holder that might be out too that will bring you idle up too but i dont know and if its one of the problems like that then it might worth trying but if not sorry for the waste of time reading this

I believe you're referring to the BPT. It should have one hose that runs right underneath it that runs to another saucer shaped thing. That's your EGR. That hose is a pretty common culprit to wear down. Might want to change it and see how it runs from there.

the car drives itself at 1500-2000? that's normal.even when warm you can actually drive the car at 1500rpm if you want, just give it some throttle.

BPT... Boost Pressure ...... forgot the last T.

"The BPT valve monitors exhaust pressure to activate the diaphragm, controlling throttle chamber vacuum applied to the EGR control valve. In other words, recirculated exhaust gas is controlled in response to positioning of the EGR control valve or to engine operation."

Taken directly from my FSM. Basically, it is a function of the EGR. You should not need to replace the entire assembly, just the vacuum hoses that have deteriorated. Pick up some generic vacuum hose at AZ or somewhere and cut it to fit. Bring a piece of the old hose with you so they know what size.

This sounds like an IACV Valve problem sits in front of AAC valve between intake and valve cover. Take some carbeurator cleaner and blow it out. Should be set.

my truck has that problem as well but it does it all the time. I think it is because one of the timing chain tensioners is screwed up.

haha my car drives itself too, just like this. its great for like congested parking lots, you just start your car up and it goes by itself through the parking lot, then by the time youre out of the lot its back to normal. i guess maybe i should look into it.
