For 20" wheels what width of wheel and what size tires are optimal for the G?

The only reason I ask and before you give me the "go to tirerack" or any of that answers is that I've gotten anywhere from 7.5 to 8.5 widths for front and 7.5 to 9.5 widths on back as what I should use. I would rather just do 8.5s on both front/back and would like as wide of tires as I could put that wouldn't scrub. My tires now are noticeably wider than stock and it makes it look a lot better IMO and I can get most wheels and tires for cost so I'm going to do it only for that reason.

I wouldn't run anything more than a 8.5" wheel up front on the sedan. A 9" wheel is possible, but you must have the most accurate offset. 9.5" wheel on the back is optimal as well. Offset up front 35-38 and offset in the rear 40-45. 245/40 up front and 275/35 in the rear.

You guys are lucky to have the option to run a staggered setup. Even thought I'm glad that I do, I have a 35X sedan on which I have to run same sizes all around. I love big fat tires especially with some deep dish chrome shoes on.

so i can get any 245-40-20 and it will fit the 8.5 rim and any 275 35 20 and it will fit the 9.5? I'm sorry I've never changed rims on my cars before other than my 64 chevy and I let a rim shop do all that for me I just picked out the wheels. My sister's fiance can get me most big name wheels and tires for cost and that is the only reason I'm getting wheels.

I'm gonna run 245-35-20 series all around to avoid any rubbing. Don't plan on dropping at all, keeping the stock suspension.

Oh so the 245-40 would rub on the front? that just sounds awfully narrow to me or am I wrong? Mine now are pretty wide I'll check in a second just how wide they are but my buddy has 295's on his 4runner and my g parked next to his right now and they look the same width in the back

None of the wheels I'm looking at have a 40-45 offset? I'm looking at the TIS 06's (number 06 twenty inch strong) and they go to 38 offset at the max for 20x8.5s and they don't have 20x9.5s. I want a 5 or 6 pattern chrome wheel (number of arms I'm illiterate with those terms) and am not going to get them if I can't keep the tires decently wide. My car right now looks like a whole lot better and faster car than stock because my tires look so much better. I want the wheels to make them look even better but not make them narrower.

If you run 8.5" wheel all the way around, then 38 offset will be just fine for front and rear. If you runa 9.5" wheel in the back you need between a 40-45 offset.

Thanks man...If I run 8.5 alls around (which I'll probably do) will any rim with 38 offset and being an 8.5 work on my G (I know it has to have the right pattern)? Also for 8.5 what is the optimal tire for width, fit, and look?

If the wheel is 5x114, 38mm offset 8.5" wide, any wheel you can find in those specs will work. I would suggest a 245/40/18 tire.
