i have the pie pan rims and having a super tough time getting the caked-on black crap off from the slots around the perimeter of the rim.

does anyone know a good way to remove this. i've tried wheel cleaners and a toothbrush, working my way up to stiffer brushes. NO GOOD!

any suggestions???? jeff

Brake parts cleaner, followed by Mother's mag polish.

Best to pull the wheels off and lie them flat to keep excess cleaner off the tires. Plus you can clean the backsides too!

SIMPLE GREEN OWNS!!!! I love that stuff, I use it on everything. That is almost the only cleaner I have. Full strengh it will degrease motors, but diluted it's gentle enough for porcelin. I have like 3 different spray bottles I use with differnt dillution ratios written on the bottle. It's great stuff.

When you get em clean, try Zaino, keep em Zainoed and you can get the brake dust off with a duster. On the other hand if the clear coat is gone nothing will help but a $100 per wheel rehab. If the car is in good shape I would be shopping for new wheels. I'm doing that even though my original owner Q came with bbs rz out of the showroom. The clearcoat is gone even on these premium wheels after 12 years. By the way the clear coat gets eaten primarily by car washes putting acid in their co called wheel cleaners.

Surface will be kinda rough in places, if you used any car wash chemicals of any kind, even the spray it yourself kind the clearcoat HAS to be gone, like I said it even happens on high end wheels like BBS. The pie pans are all over ebay brand new for under $100 set. Or the 97+ 16" are real pretty, I think Fred has a pic. in his sig.

three of my I30 rims have the clearcoat gone in sections (big long drips) does the rehab really work? new rims are sooo expensive.
