I have a 93 240SX with a KA24DE engine. This last weekend we finished up the timing chain replacement job and bolted everything back together. The car started and ran a little rough, but the oil light is on and there is no oil being delivered to the upper timing chain.

The oil sending unit is brand new. The oil is 5W-30 and is also brand new. All gaskets were replaced and there were no other problems to speak of, other than some lost skin.

I read somewhere in here about a pick up tube gasket and another washer that could cause this problem. I have the fsm, but haven't been able to locate the part numbers in this manual.

Any help would be appreciated. Thx.

Did you ever find out what the problem was? I'm having the exact same problem.

If anyone else has this problem and finds this thread, my problem was with a washer between the block and the front cover. It slipped out of place when I lined up the front cover and I didn't notice, so instead of drawing oil from the pan it was drawing air from inside the front cover. A quick tear-down and a new ring solved it all.
