Well, I have been putting this off for sometime mostly because I lacked the time to really put down my thoughts all at once. For those who dont know what I am talking about do a search on "the $0.99 mod that works" because there is too much info there for me to re-cap. It seems that my original post really sparked some big controversy and got a lot of attention, most of which was negative. After extended analysis of the questionable power-adder that I had been so enthused about I have discovered some very interesting results. I have found that you can only "fool" the ecm for so long before it becomes wise to the situation. It seems that pretty much everyone who posted on my original subject was wrong in some way. It IS possible to fool the ecm and extract a little more power but only under very limited conditions. In order for the "mod" to work the ecm must have had continuous battery power for long enough to have learned the long-term fuel trim adjustments. Also, after having the "mod" in place for an extended length of time the ecm will alter the fuel trim settings around it and basically void all power enhancing qualities of the "mod". So basically, you can only use this "mod" for very short lengths of time and it will not work directly after having disconnecting the battery. My point is YES it will work, but NO it is not practical nor is it worth the effort unless you are desparate to gain a very modest amount of power temporarily. However, I feel that a lot was achieved throughout this process so it was not a total loss. I noticed that a lot of people that use this forum are pretty narrowminded and very unwelcoming to new ideas and experimentation. If it werent for experimentation a lot of the mods that are performed on a daily basis would not have ever been discovered. I think that all of us can take something away from this topic wether it be being more open to new ideas, realizing that none of us know everything, or just to be a little more polite in disagreeing with someone else. I would like to hope that everyone here agrees that this forum is for the spreading of knowledge and the only way that that can happen is through the openmindedness of people to at least consider an idea before completely dismissing it....................
