I think a few folks from here emailed me within the last few weeks about the SR Specials for their Y33, and I mentioned that I'd be bringing some extra sets in... well, they are here and ready to go. I haven't had any full commitments from some people I talked to yet, so as of right now, there are 3 extra sets still unspoken for and ready to go right now. If anyone is interested, please email me (again if you already did before, too) at: [email protected]

I also brought in a set of Insurance coilovers for the Y33, and am waiting to get some impressions from a friend before officially offering them, but from a cursory inspection, these things are an awesome option for Y33 owners. They blow away JICs in terms of quality construction and features... 15 way damping adjustability, "full tap" adjustability (the bottom mounts/spindles are independently height adjustable from the springs, so you can alter height without changing spring preloading, etc.), pillowball mounts front and rear with front camber plates, rear hard bottom bushings... and the best part: no core exchange and charge! You get to keep your stock front struts, and end up paying less than a set of JICs, and get coilovers that are almost infinitely better...! More info to follow once they're installed...

Whats the cost on both? Ready to do major suspension renovations. Just curious if this is in the budget.

I believe the KYB's are right around $700. Just a guess, but I'd say the Insurance C/O's will be right around $1400.

Falk is close... the KYB struts are a tad under 700, but the Insurance coilovers are a bit more than 1400...

Man, I wish I could jump on this oppurtunity but I'm going to have to pass for now. Hopefully by the time I'm ready you'll have a full impression on the Insurance coilovers and be offering more by then, they sound awesome

More impressions on the Insurance coilovers: they be good. Range of adjustment is insane... you could potentially bring it down about 4"+ from stock and still have quite a bit of suspension travel remaining. Here's the kicker: my friend says the ride is unbelievably smooth. In fact, he says it's eerie how nice the car feels, especially since he's lowered it quite a bit. So this, coupled with my confidence in the quality of the struts means I'd like to officially offer these to anyone interested. Gonna try and get a shipment of stuff in before the end of the year, so if anyone wants a nice xmas present to give themselves, just give me an email....

Anyone thinkning about waiting to jump on the SR's stop waiting and cut a check loose. These are amazing and I had to wait for over 2 months for mine from onetongarage. This is the best Y33 investment you can make and if you have over 50k you need new struts/shocks anyways, don't let these sit, open the piggy bank and just take them.

Jeff knows what he's talking about! But seriously, my personal opinion is for those who don't want or need to go coilovers, the SR Specials are probably the best option, even if you don't plan on lowering your car. Quality construction (and reportedly better valving) should ensure they last just as long as-if not longer than-the stockers. And for those who are looking into further lowering options (besides air), it would appear that the Insurance coilovers are the best bang for the buck, esp. relative to the other option out there right now, which are the JICs. Here's a link to Insurance's page with more info:http://www.insurance-group.net...n.htm

EDIT: I should say that by "best bang for the buck" I don't mean they're a good cheap option.. on the contrary, I think their quality far exceeds JIC's stuff. They're easily $2000+ coilovers in terms of features and quality... but for less than $2000.....bang for the buck, indeed!

So your first post and you decide to troll a good members thread?

And when is the last time you priced that with shipping from Japan?

The charge of shipping will cost approximately $100-$150 per set. Believe me, I've done my fair share of researching. It's also good having friends that are stationed in Japan. Good luck with the sales.

How's your Japanese, plus you need to have a way to pay in Japan and they do not ship stuff of Yahoo Auctions to the US. The hassle factor would be huge and totally worth it to buy them directly from oneton for SR Specials and let him deal with everything including dealing with the stupid customs guys.

So when will you offer them to us for a better price?

Van is totally honest and trustworthy, and that is worth something also.

then maybe you should take all the risks and possible problems related to buying from a foreign country.

shipping fee's along with currency fee's are outragous, and let's not forget customs.

You can even look around at some of the various online proxy bidding services and try to get the struts from auction... but before you commit, make sure you find out how much they'll charge you for shipping and such (and also ask them to confirm with the sellers on Yahoo Auctions if they will charge sales tax... as a lot of those aucs are from vendors, and they will charge sales tax, in addition to a little bit higher shipping "and handling" vs. buying from a private party on YA). It's not the deal of a century either way you go... but I did remember someone mentioning that bulletproof was selling them for like 880+ with a 6 month lead time...??

Hi Van. I sent you an email re: the coilovers. Can it give me this stance or just slightly higher?
