Moved on to a Carerra S...............on balance, the G is a good car with exceptional cornering, decent power, but I've had these lingering issues:

(1) Traction --- ZERO in snow, very bad in wet conditions...........tires wear out every 12,000 miles so be prepared to replace on a recurring basis(2) Driver's side window --- intermittently fails, has been in the dealership twice for reprogramming(3) Trunk hand held remote --- fails to open truck about 10% of the time.........forces me to go the the underdash switch(4) Tires low air level light --- has been in the shop FIVE time and the thing still comes on!!!!!!!!! (Do I sound mad about this yet???)

Hope this helps!!!

This didn't help me at all. How is this helping? Seems like more of complaining and not offering any solutions.

Maybe you bought a G that was built on Friday---i dunno (just kidding). Seriously, I have an 07 and it has been extremely reliable with the exception of small bugs that had to be worked out in the beginning such as replacing the engine, greasing the axle splines, replacing the flywheel. And even then, these problems were mostly a problem caused by supplier of parts or during the manufacture of the car. The vast majority of G owners did not have these issues. And when I say the word, reliable, I mean under conditions where i routinely flog my car up to and exceeding 6,000 RPM whenever I get behind the steering wheel, thus, causing me to wear out my brakes every 6 months or less.

If your Carrera S is a stick shift and if you plan to drive it hard, be prepared to pay for maintenance that will be twice or three times the cost of a G. And the tires of the G DO NOT wear out in 12,000 miles under normal to occassional spirited driving conditions---what type of tires did you have on your G? If you drive the carrera s in a spirited way as the G, your tires will wear out in 12,000 miles or less and it will set you back way more than 2K for all four tires. And if it is stick shift, you better have over 4K handy to replace clutch system.

So, what you are complaining about the G are far less cheaper than the fun and performance you get out of it. And, Infinit is great at replacing stuff without even blinking an eye. I hope the Carrera S is that nice and ready to replace stuff on a whim.

I'm kinda lost with your post too OP.

I've had an 05 and now an 07. I've never even had one problem!

For one thing, it's not exactly comparing an apple to an apple with those two vehicles. The cost/performance are in different categories. Maybe compare the G to a Caymen/Boxster.

Another thing is your first and only post is to say that you are moving to a Carrera? Are you trying to do a soft sell for your G or something?

What am I missing?

Hey, welcome to Nico, just a few questions.

How many miles on your G, Have you manually checked your tire pressure? If not, check the pressure to make sure the TPS is reading accurately... if it's not, and going on for no reason, I would replace the sensor.

If your car was in an accident, it may be possible that the trunk latch is sticking or caught on the release mechanism. I would oil/ lube the area, and make sure your safety lock is not activated in the glove compartment.

Driving in snow will take great patience with the G. If you have your VDC off, you will be more likely to lose traction, but more likely to maintain tire rotation.

With VDC on, the computer will kill the throttle with the first slip of a tire. It will cause you to come to a stop in snow. Keeping VDC off will ensure you can keep the tires spinning, just enough to keep your momentum.

Ideally, you'll need winter tires to curb this issue, I choose not to drive my G in the snow period, unless it's for a quick series of donuts in the snow for fun.

Your tire's lifetime will depend on your choice of rubber, driving style, etc. I think you have made some poor assumptions regarding the G, and hopefully you will have improved luck in the future. I too have had no problems really, all things considered, the G is a solid car that keeps improving each year.

Snow Traction: Get snow tire. The stocks are extreme performance Summer

Window Failure- Get the dealer to replace the window motor. Problem solved.

Trunk Remote issue- I've been around a large number of Nissans and Infinitis and the only trunk failure I've seen is a bent latch on an I30. None of the other vehicles have issues. Are you pressing the button down for the correct duration of time? Are you within range? Are the remote batteries good?

TPMS- I don't really like the system either, but I'd guess that the temperature fluctuations in your area are the cluprit. Get some nitrogen in the tires and get on with life.

(1) Traction - I came from a front wheel drive boat, so it took me some time to relearn to drive in the snow, seem to have the trick now (i have winter tires)(4) TPMS - My light comes on a lot as well, but the time it actually beeped at me, I actually needed to fill one...

If he really doesn't have traction in the snow and these are real complaints, he's one of my flippin' idiots that doesn't know how to drive in the snow and needs to read my thread on how to do so, either here or in Gen Chat.

In Virginia, no snow tire should be needed. Does it even snow in Virginia? Maybe twice?

Everything else is just blah blah blah. Hey, I have an 06, don't have any of those problems.

At least he's not getting a Lexus, a whole bunch of them are on recall now.
