over on another forum there was a big discussion of getting the 3.5 folding/heated/turn signal mirrors and putting them on a 2.5.

this can be done....it will be either be very easy or very hard....depending on what kind of wiring harness plugs into your mirror

Parts you will need: 96301JB14E, 96301JA04C, 96302JB14E, 96302JA04C = $285 + painting (the coverings for the mirrors are black plastic and will need to be painted)

Instructions:

take off the black plastic on the inside of the car where the rear view mirror is. i was able to pull it off with my hands since its just held in by clips. take a look at the wiring harness that is plugged into the mirror

If there are 7 wires running to your mirror, all you have to do is buy the parts and its plug and play. Simple, right?

If you have less than 7 wires (people say they only have 3 wires) then all of this is still possible, youll just have to wire the mirror yourself running wires to the proper fuses in the fuse box and what-not.

It has not been determined yet if what 2.5 model you have (S vs. SL) or what packages you have (Convenience vs. Convenience Plus vs. Connection vs. Technology) or what year you have (2007 vs. 2008) depends on how many wires you have running to your harness. I have an SL with Connection and Tech packages and have 7 wires running to my mirror. The best way to find out if you are plug and play or not is to just take off the black plastic covering inside the car where the rearview mirror connects to the car.

Yup, I changed mine 2.5l mirrors to 3.5l mirrors. Just take the old ones and put the new ones in. Now I have mirrors with turn signals, heated and manual fold. Took me about 5 minutes per side.

I got mine the mirror assemblies and covers for $ 280 ( i believe) + $ 40 painted (for the covers).

Hey, so I got my 3.5 mirrors and tried to get them painted, but most body shops in the Albany NY area all want $180 and up to paint them. I've called about 8 so far and that's what I got. That sounds crazy, esp if you got your done for $40 or 50.

It might be cheaper to ship them out to get painted.

BTW- what offset are those 19"s, and are they ASA AR1's?

paint them yourself! use mask tape everywhere you don't want to paint, then one coat of primer, 2 coats of color, and finally one coat of clear coat. 40$ job

Either paint them yourself or do what I did. I bought them to a small Asian body shop in my neighborhood to get painted for $40. No need to bring these covers to expensive places. The rims are ASA AR2' 40 mm offset.

so is it true that a 2007 2.5sl does not have 7 wires? I checked mine and i think i only have 4 wires. I didn't open the plastic thing all the way because that thing would break, so i couldnt really look at the wires.

can someone tell me how to properly open the black plastic thing on the inside of the car? I tried many times but it only opened half way. Do I need to remove some other things first before taking the plastic thing off?
