Fog on the middle of the Windshield ???

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

On the inside of the Windshield, does anybody out there, have Fog starting from the interior Rear-view Mirror and going down towards the Dash ?

If we go driving on the Highway for long periods of time, we end up with this sort of "V" shaped Fog-patch on the interior of the Windshield that can't be defrosted, no matter how hard the Fan blows or/and no matter what the Heat Temperature setting is.

It's wide up top, and sort of comes to a point, between the two Vents on the Dash.

It's almost as if the Defroster Duct-work doesn't allow air-flow to reach this area.

Driving around Town, it seems to be OK. It's just out on the Highway, when it happens.

Anyone ?

That isn't normal. I wonder if your HVAC intake is closing off enough inside air. I assume you have the climate control on auto and the recirculating air light/button isn't on? I guess it is also possible your AC isn't cycling at higher speeds, this could be a sensor defect.

What happens when you push the front windshield defrost button? That should increase defrost to the front windshield.

I spend a lot of time driving in wet conditions so any defroster limitations would have shown up during the 21 months I have been with the EX. I would rate the EX HVAC system a 9.5 for my local climatic conditions; nothing is perfect.

Correct.

I think it's operating normally. We often turn off the AC when it gets really cold out. If I use the Recirculating Button, then I make sure the AC is on, so that the air-flow doesn't fog up the Windshield.

Fan Speed goes to maximum and all the other Vents (I think) close off.

I've had this problem since day one... Could I have had it resolved under warranty? I'm not sure.

Here's some pictures of my problem... does anybody else experience this?

I think it's because of this bridge in between the two windshield ducts...

I was wondering if I cut the plastic out, in between these two ducts, would it work better?

I would try replacing the cabin air filter, temporarily opening the window, or RainX antifog before cutting anything like that.

Cabin Filter was replaced 6 months ago.

Side window slightly cracked open, makes no difference.

AC button is on... and the Re-circ is off.

There's no antifreeze stink in the cabin, so I don't think there's a heater core leak.

Eventually, this goes away after you crank it up to 32*C and set it on full defrost... but under half floor and half defrost, this will creep and become the frost you see in the pictures.

It has done this day one.

When it's cold out, do you guys drive around with full defrost always? I don't like my head getting cooked with full/maximum heat. I find that the shape of what grows on the windshield to be a little odd. It points right to the bridge between the two vents.

I will try the Rain-x. That might work.

I have never seen that before and that is nothing that I have experienced in my 2011 EX35 or any other vehicle for that matter. I wonder if you show those pictures to your local dealer if they might be able to guide you in a direction or a possible repair. That is not good, and I can see how that can be dangerous (especially at night)

Do you guys have the extreme cold that we have here?

When these events take place, it's minus 30-40 Celcius.

I am in Upstate NY, and it hasnt been that cold recently, but I would still ask the dealer if they are aware of anything like that. They might be able to say that others have had the same issues, or that yours is isolated. It might be able to get you going in a positive direction.

I have found that cleaning the windshield very well on the inside will reduce any issues I've had with fogging.

I never had any issue like that. Defrost works pretty well. When I get out of the saua from the gym into the car it tends to fog it up some.

You guys have newer models, too. Maybe they fixed the problem?

My 08 EX35 never had that issue. Maybe the valve in the air duct isn't moving entirely over. Can you feel air flow in other vents when in defrost mode?
