saw a 2010 E550 coupe yesterday and noticed that they had a strip of LED lights for fog lights... since everyone wants to put fog lights in the stillen front fascia but cant fit them, this could be a good alternative. the fins where fog lights would go (where most people paint black) is where i'm talking about..... put a strip of LEDs along the edge of the fin. the factory wires for fog lights are already there so wouldnt it be a easy install? what do you guys think about this idea? as of right now its just an idea, just trying to solve a problem many people have.... oh and sorry if this has been done before and this is a repost.

The guy who prototyped the fascia put some fog lights there. I think they were some rectangular PIAA

ya i'm not really feeling those. i just thought that with dangerious talking about the LED strip in that cardomain thread the other day and then seeing the E550 coupe yesterday i just thought it would look good. give it a nice clean look. originaly i was thinking about trying to custom fit the factory fog lights and then smoke them dark so you wouldnt be able to see them but i think that would be more work and not look as good

i think that looks sweet! i want to make it look like that but more of a bluish white color to match some 5000k HIDs

not bad. but i think it sort of draws some of the attention to the fog lights instead of the bumper... like it doesnt just flow and look flush... like you can tell it was done aftermarket. not that theres anything wrong with that, its just not really my paticlular style. also i noticed many members like the LED strips and many members want to put fog lights in there fascia so this might be the best of both worlds.

i think that'd look pretty bad a**! that's why i haven't gotten the fascia yet, because i still want/need to keep my fogs... but where could you put the LEDs so they wouldn't be visible during the day? or at least look good in a certain spot...

that's what i'm talkin about! sexy! and i agree with Hussain, i would want it to be a bluish white color too...

LEDs are pretty bright so maybe just mount it at the edge of the fin and then smoke it... ppl smoke head lights and tail lights with either overlays or some spray stuff. i'd use the spray stuff and smoke them to look black and they would be basically invisible during the day and still have very good light output at night... haven't really thought it out all the way but thats what i'm thinking as of now. i think it would look OEM with the lines of the Stillen fascia. plus on top of that, hook it up to the OEM fog light wires and use the factory switch inside the car to turn them on and off as if it came like that from the factory.

lol i think ill do it but i'm like 100% broke right now and am not working.... i might try and get a job next month or something.... if i do ill order the ED side skirts, some eye lids, get those painted and installed and smoke the head lights and install the LED strip for fog lights and smoke those.... so if things go good, ill have that done in a month or 2.

ya that would definitely work but i dont think it would look as good. the fascia wasnt made for fog lights but that fin looks almost like it was made for a strip of LEDs to go there.

is that just the benz? or do you mean LEDs as fogs in general...

saw that on a new benz aswell and was like wtf, new porsches now have it too, its becoming a theme that they stole from the aftermarket scene.

I have a strip on my fascia but it's hooked up to my turn signals not as a fog light. They are not too noticeable in the daytime but at night it looks beautiful.

I did that exact setup about a year and a half ago. It looked tacky and cheesy. I look them off quickly after I stuck them in place.

They are pretty bright at night, in the day time not so much, but I need them because my turn signals are covered up and I would rather not get pulled over for not having visible front turn signals
