I finally had a fog light go out on my (61k miles later... not bad) 2003 and was curious if anyone could recommend a good replacement... I'm very weary of the "Hyperwhite" "Xenon" "HID" boy racer crap your local stereo store sells... I want something reliable, maybe even OEM. Let me know what some options are!

Thanks guys.

I had the old dingy oem bulbs and decided to use yellow piaa bulbs. So far so good. These bulbs aren’t the easiest to change out, but once you do it the first time you’ll realize how easy it’ll be the second time around.

There are other members here who’ve gone full hid in their fogs, but this will cost you a bit more.

Also consider the Sylvania Ultra-Stars. They are bright white halogens.

I didn't know they made an H3... I thought everything Sylvania did was low and high beam...

Oh, they make lots of bulbs, but not all models are available in Silverstar or the new Silverstar Ultras halogen, for obvious reasons.

I just noticed that the H3 is only available in Silverstar (not the Ultra) - I was wrong about that. Which is still fine, by the way, since the regular Silverstar is an excellent halogen ... I use it for my wife's car for the low and high beams.

I had the SilverStars on my Buick Rendezvous and those were seriously the brightest non-HID lights I've ever seen. It was a very simple modification to make the high beam bulb fit the low beams... which helped, I'm sure, but either way they were impressive.

What's the approximate cost difference of those yellow HID's and the silver stars? I remember the H1 silverstars being about $40 for the pair...

Truthfully your better off going to Pep Boys or Checker and by a brand name H3 bulb like Phillips or Osram. That's what your OEM ones were that lasted till 60k.

IMO the fog lights on this car are pretty much just cosmetic. Compared to the HID's they really don't help too much when it comes to lighting the road. The lumen's that your HID low beams put out just drown out the fog light output.

PIAA's are pricey and they do not last long. Longest pair I think I had lasted 4 months.

Forget the cheap blue bulbs. They burn out way to quick and they also fade. Any bulb that is coated has a short life span due to the coating keeping extra heat in the bulb.

There are some good quality colored bulbs but they are pricey. Hella, Raybrig, Hoen, Silverstars, Xenesis, etc.

Beware of higher wattage bulbs. Our cars use 55watt H3. I've seen people throw in 80 watt and 100 watt and fry their harnesses.

If your looking to match something w/ HID's then they only way to match is actually retrofitting a HID kit. No halogen bulbs will match, especially with the H3 application. H3's just provide poor output.
