Fog light question for jetta

Alright I know this isn't a be forum but I'm more familar with this one then others. But anyway, my gf has a 03 VW jetta tdi. Me personally, driving at night in her car seems to be a lil difficult to see the road. She don't want hid but wants fog lights. Hey her car, whatever she wants. My question is what is the proper way to hook up fog lights? Through the fuse box or just from the battery to a switch? Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks
