Fog Light Kit 3rd Gen 2021 SV

So, my dealer installed the fog lights as part of the purchase and they seem to act weird. I have a new service appointment to check them out however. When you turn the headlights and fogs on the fogs come on. When you put the high beam on they go off. When you turn the high beams off the fogs stay off. You Need to cycle the switch off and on to get them to come on again. Also, when you turn the fogs off they do not go off. You have to turn them off and on. This seems messed up. But AFAIK its all just plug in. I guess it could be a bad ground. Any thoughts?

Just additional info. If I turn the fog lights on with the headlight in auto at night they will come on with the low beams. If I switch to high beam they shut off. They do not come back on when I switch to low beam. This seems like a firmware glitch or perhaps they forgot to flash the firmware.

That does sound like firmware, but maybe it's just a configuration issue with the iPDM or BCM. I'll be interested in getting to the bottom of it, but first I'd appreciate some help from the rest of the forum. Chime in guys, are any other '21 Rogue owners seeing this behavior? Particularly owners with factory fogs as opposed to dealer-installed accessories?

The install instructions mention updating the software. I'm guessing that was done. The check out procedure from the Nissan instructions does pass. But the lights dont operate like the manual says. I'll check on that next week. I don't see any reason to ask him to.open it up.and check all the wiring do you? There is just the one big plug and everything else on the stalk is fine.

No, you're right, the switch is a matrix type. If it was malfunctioning, everything on one row or column of the matrix would be acting up. So it has to be firmware. One question is, BCM or IPDM (both are involved)? Second question is, is it an incorrect update, or something generic with the kits, or generic to your trim level, or generic to the '21? If it's any of the latter, you can bet your boots Engineering will want to know about it.

You're most welcome. I'm a semi-retired Master Tech, I work for a Nissan dealer and not NNA. That doesn't mean we can't "talk to God" when necessary, and if this problem is any way generic, "God" will definitely want the knowledge. It won't even be the first time our dealership was on the "cutting edge" of a new-model problem, so all of y'all with '21's and fog lights, please fire away.

Just got back from the dealer. They had it in for just under an hour, hooked it up and redid the configuration. Same behavior so they called Nissan. Aparently this is a known issue and they are working on it. So thats just the way it is now lol.
