Hello Everyone,

Well I did it.... I was able to install the factory fog lights on my "2006 Murano S" and it took less than 3 hours. I did a google search for the Nissan service manual and was able to buy a PDF version called "2006 NISSAN MURANO WORKSHOP SERVICE/REPAIR MANUAL" for 19.95 . It gave me details on how to install the lights. The website for the manual was called "tradebit.com". I purchased all the parts from "BuyNissanParts.com". The wire harness for the lights is accessed by removing the inner fender wells. It's about 4 clips and 5 phillip screws. The car comes pre-wired for the fogs. You just have to plug in the quick connect harness from the fog light itself you buy from Nissan. The connectors are located on the opposite side of the inner wells. As soon as you remove the inner well, they will be mounted in plain site. The manual said to remove the bumper to install but it was not needed. The hardest part of the job was removing the multi function light switch "turn signal" .. To remove the switch you have to remove the upper and lower cover just forward of the steering wheel. "4 screws".The lower portion was tough getting back on. The switch itselfhas 2 quick release tabs that allow you to remove it. The guys at Nissan said without the new switch,"auto light feature",, the fog lights would not turn on. That was the added bonus I did not plan on. Aftereverything was buttoned back up I realized that the auto light feature worked. I don't know why Nissan did not include fog lights in the S model. It wouldn't have bothered me so, but the bumper had 2 cutout holes with ugly black plastic covers. The front of the car always looked like something was missing. Now it looks complete The whole job was right at about 350.00... The parts I used were:

a - Fog light assembly's L&R b - Bezels for lights L&R c - 2 wire harnesses for fog lights d - Muti function switch "turn Signal"

Hello,

Thanks for sharing your experience.

I have wanted to install fog lights on my Murano S as well. Since you already did it, I'd like to ask you couple of questions regarding the fog lights you got from that site:

1. Do the lamps have a clear "white light" or are they "yellowish" type?

2. Do you consider that the "auto-light" switch is actually necessary/required to activate the fog lamps?

3. If so, what is the name of the switch in the site. I cannot manage to find it. The most likely one I have seen is an item called "Auto headlamp ctrl", but it doesn't have illustration. Is that the one that is needed?

I appreciate a lot your help on this. Thanks.

By the way, have you installed white lights in the headlamps?

Hey,

1- The Fog lights are clear and " bright",. No yellow at all in them. They are OEM. 2- According to Nissan, the Auto Light switch is necessary P/N#25540- CB61A... "Switch-ASSM"...65.00. There is some kind of smart controller that looks for the switch, which allows the fog lights to turn on.

I still have the original head lights on the car. For me they are bright enough especially now, with the addition of the fog lights... If you have any other questions let me know. I hope this helps.

Hi,

I am new to this forum so thanks for your time. I have a2007 Murano S model. I see that you have the 2006 Murano S model and installed oem factory fog lights and automatic headlights usingthe oem stalk switch with " auto headlight feature. " Did you have toinstall the light sensor on the dash also to get this working? I orderedall the parts from my dealership. I am hoping this will work. Accordingto what you have done with your 06' Murano it worked for you.(auto headlight feature).

Thanks,Jim

Hey Jim,

I did not install a light sensor on the dash. I wasn't aware of that being a factor for the auto light feature to function properly. I know that after the install, the lights would be on when I left the switch in the "auto" position, while driving night or day.. I figured it was a daytime driving light option. I know that when I turned the vehicle off, the lights would turn off by themselves after about 1 min. I don't have another Murano to compare. If anyone has anymore info let us know... Thanks...........

I don't either, but I have yet to see a Murano with it's fog lights on during the daytime. I think that means we need that sun sensor to function like the other models.

Hey,

I hooked up the optical sensor on the dash. Orderedit from my dealership. There is a white plug under the dash that is taped to some wires. I just untaped it andbrought it up and thru the the dash(removed the tab onthe dash). I also ordered the piece that surrounds the sensor from the dealership. It works perfectly.

Have a good day

Thanks for that report. Do you have the part #'s? How much did it cost? Can you add the sensor without disassembling the glove box, A/C evaporator, etc?

I see a "Sun Load Sensor" (about $40) and a "Light Sensor Auto Headlamp Ctrl" for 3X that amount. Ouch.

Hello,

Answers to your questions:

1) Your Welcome2) Just ask the dealer to look it up. It is the optical sensor for auto headlamp for a SL Model. Yes, it is around $110.00 dollars.3) No, you do not have to take apart the dash or anything. The sensorplug is taped to some wires under the driver side. Just crawl under the driver side and look up and you will see it there. Untape it and s*** up through the opening on the dash.

Have a good day.

What site did you use to purchase the below? Some of the part numbers provided dont work on NissanParts.com

Second question, Does anyone know another website that all these things can be purchased at and where to get the optical sensor?

Sorry to hear that you have reached a "dead end" with your fog light install. I am not sure how it is done, but if you click the link below you can access the service manual for your Murano, maybe this would be of some assistance. Good luck!

I just did the install yesterday. I spent lots of time trying to find the fog light harness online but never found it. The number listed above is correct, but I had to go to the Nissan dealer. For the two parts it was 35 from the dealer. Everything else was expensive. I ended up buying all my parts from the dealer for 500 bucks including all sales tax.

The install was pretty easy following the advice above. It took under two hours to complete the install (including the removal of a dead mouse). A few things:
When installing the R Fog Light, you do not have to remove the windshield washer reservoir. Once you remove the wheel wheel guard, just reach over the tank to install the upper screw. If you try to install it from below the tank, it will never work; and
I had some trouble installing the turn signal without removing the bottom portion of the steering wheel column cover. I removed it and it made the job easier.

Installing the lights makes a huge difference plus it adds the auto off feature. It is worth it. Best of luck!!!

Did you buy the "Sun Load Sensor" or the "Light Sensor Auto Headlamp Ctrl", in order to get the auto-off feature to work? I'm guessing the latter because the cost is greater! :(
