Is it possible for the fob to go bad? More and more often I have to put the fob into the dash port to start the car. I've changed the battery in the fob and it works fine for a day or two and then I'll try it and it goes to ACC and nothing further. I try a few times and if it doesn't start, I then put the fob in the port and car starts fine. What do you guys think? Bad fob or other problem?

Thanks for the help.
Nick

Odd, maybe is your battery, try getting a battery from somewhere else. and check the voltage of your current battery.

What battery are you replacing it with? CR2032? If it's not a CR2032 it will do what you are describing.

Keep in mind LOTS of watch batteries sit on the shelf for sometimes YEARS before they are bought. I would get one from a place where they have just stocked it if you can find it.

Thanks. I am using CR2032, perhaps I got a bad batch from Walgreens. I also just put a new battery in the car about a week ago since the original one died recently.

You might have a faulty brake switch on the pedal and the car isn't always noticing your pressing the brake and its just going into ACC mode. Several members have had to have theirs replaced. Just a thought.

Thank you. I'll look into that, it could be the issue.

same thing happened to me then i herd if you are touching the disk batteries on the top and bottom it drains the battery so only touch the battery on the edges like a CD you know

You can also switch to the other ikey for a while and see how it performs in terms of battery life.

Looks like it was the Brake Lamp Switch all along. Whatever you do don't pay the dealer to replace it. My local dealer wanted $95 for the part & labor since car is out of warantee. I bought one for $39. It takes all of about 20 seconds to twist it counter clockwise, unplug it and install the new one twisting it in clockwise.
