Greetings all,

I am a newbie with a 99. Well, it's on it's way as I bought it on eBay and I don't take possession for another 2 weeks. I am dying to drive this thing!! I started out looking for a used Acura (I've had 3 and they were nice) but switched gears due to their high resale prices. I THINK I got a heck of a deal. Fairly low miles (120K), one owner, clean carfax, loads of high quality images and a glowing report (of course) about it's mechanical condition...all for about 3000 below book. After reading about 50 reviews, it sounds as though these cars are crazy fast....how cool is that??

I will read every post on the site over the next week or so and try to ramp up to speed quickly.

I will have a million questions but just two for now.

How do I know if mine has the touring package??What kind of things ought I do to keep this beast happy??

I plan on driving the car to work primarily. (200 miles each way, mostly all interstate, but only 4 times or so a month) So I'd like to set it up for nice highway blasting. I'm thinking new tires and wheels right off the bat. I will do most of my own wrenching if possible.

Thanks in advance for any and all info and leads.Off to read.....

Welcome to NICO...

Congrats on the purchase. I dont want to be a downer, but I wouldnt call a Y33 "fast". It will move for sure, but its not really that fast. Im comparing to G50s, and other luxury cars with V8's in its time period. Im sure it was the slowest V8 luxury car in 1999...

At any rate... I would plan on replacing all the suspension parts, brakes and tires in the first year... Just see what you get and what you have to work with but I would replace all those things during the first year, who knows what the PO used. They may be "decent" things, but DECENT isnt NEW.

As SOON as you get it replace all the fluids. You can probably replace all the fluids for under $300, and thats the best thing you can do to make this car happy. Diff, trans, brake, PS, etc.. Also replace all the filters (air, cabin and fuel)...

The car will have a spoiler and Q45t on the back if its a touring model. I believe Y33's also have the touring floormats as well.

These cars are very solid, just keep the liquid parts fresh so you dont have to replace metal parts.

They are not, but they are cruisers on the highway.

Read all the posts by Q45tech. Study the FSM, the TSB, the OM, and the Infiniti dealer performed service history you obtained before purcahsing the vehicle. Check the article by Skibane on the auxiliary ATF cooler. Start with all new fluids if you don't know for certain which are now emplyed or for how long.

From the VIN or the t on the back, or the shock switch on the dash, or the blacked out raccoon headlight surrounds, or the 17" five spoked wheels.
