Hey all,

I'm in the market for new rims and like many it's my first experience. I remember reading about a post a few months back and i can't seem to find it. I'm thinking of getting the FN01's in 17" but i'm not sure what width I should go with. I have a stock S14 (4lug) with stock brakes and stock suspension. I was looking at the 17x9 20 offset rims on SPL parts but i wasn't sure if I would have any problems fitting them without any adjustments. (ie fender roll?) If that wouldn't work, how about 17x8 +35?

Now another question I have is that right now I have the honey combs which weigh 15 lbs. My stock KA is slow as hell already, would putting on 17-18lb FN's slow down my car a lot? I was also looking into sportmax 962's but they weigh 25 lbs. each...is that too heavy on a stock KA also? (i like the look of them a lot, and they're cheap, but the weight seems too much)

Sorry if i asked questions that were asked before

adding another question,

by adding bigger rims that weigh more, for example the sportmax's would my car suffer from lower MPG? or just rims with larger diameter and more weight in general would get less MPG? if so how much lower?

thanks.

17x9's +20 will fit fine.....as for lower mpg, the loss won't be enough to matter when rolling on much better/flusher wheels.

Dont worry too much about those fitments,+20 will be fine. As for the weight issue, the drive will feel a bit more sluggish, but if its a daily driver, its no big deal. I have an old set of OZ Monte Carlos that weigh close to 30lb in a 17x9.5, the sluggishness was worth it. Now I run Competitions at roughly 20lb for a 17x9. This is with a KA E.

ddgsxr504,

about how much mpg would be lost? right now i'm getting anywhere in between 22-26...i'd be ok as long as i get around 20-22 i guess. so the 17x9 would fit w/o any modification right? also, what would be the tire size i would have to get for the 17x9 +20?

You will most likely lose about 2 mpg. Yes the wheels will fit without mods but that is only the case if you have coilovers. If you have strut/spring set-up I am unsure if the mounted tire will clear the spring perch.

235/40 or 225/50 for an uber stretch look which you will only need if you plan on dumping the car.
