A 6:1 unit may not be enough. You may lean out from 0-3 psi because the rise rate may not be high enough. From my information you would probably need an 8:1 or 10:1 regulator. You can pick up one of these on ebay for about a hundred bucks. However.....from all the research I've done I personally chose the B.E.G.I./Cartech regulator becasue I feel it has more features I like over the Vortech unit.
1.) It has an adjustable initial rate of gain for the time when your car is from 4 in. vacuum to 3 psi boost. It is a common problem in EFI equipped vehicles to run a little lean at part throttle between 4 in vacuum to 3 psi boost. The B.E.G.I./CArtech regulator fixes this.
2.) To change the rate of gain in the Vortech FMU you must take it apart and raplace the disks. The B.E.G.I./Cartech unit is adjusted by a knob on the regulator. Plus the B.E.G.I./Cartech unit can be fine tuned better.
I'm not trying to sell this to you I am just telling you why I purchased mine. If you check it out I feel that you will feel the same way. It's just better. Plus I was able to pick up mine off of Ebay for 190 bucks, new, and they retail for 250. I think it is a good investment.

I think the Cartech FMU should be compared to the Vortech Super FMU instead, which also has knob adjustments on the regulator.
Please post results of your experience using the Cartech FMU. I'm very interested, since I plan to get one

PORNFLAKES...Yeah that is a good point, but I was just trying to make the comparisson to the standard vortech unit because these are the only two that I have had any sort of experience with. I am not trying to say the Cartech is any better than the Vortech SFMU. KAPWR who replied to a thread of mine says he has had better experience with the Vortech SFMU. Like I said before I'm not trying to sell one to him it's just what I have learned trying to figure out what I personally want to run on my vehicle. THe CArtech unit just seemed like a better deal to me, and I was able to pick it up for about the same price on ebay as I would have at a local performance shop.
