I'm trying to work out the flow rate of our stock fuel injectors at 85psi of fuel. You some tell me what I'm doing wrong.

the square root of 85/35 = 1.55 (35psi is the stock pressure?)

1.55 times 270 = 420cc

So is that right?

'cause if it is then 420cc = 40lbs

40lbs/.5 B.S.F.C (brake specific fuel consumption) = 80hp

80hp times 4 cyclinders = 320hp.

So if an FMU is say 8:1 and I run about 7psi and run around 85psi in the fuel rail this set up should be good up to 320hp?

If any of my calculations or formuals are wrong please help me out. Thanks.

Hah. I was no math wizard but I think you are right. Maybe you should ditch the FMU?

Is the question, will 420cc injectors flow enough to support 320hp?? If thats what your looking for then yes is the answer.

Sorry I wasn't clear on that. I mean to ask if my calcuation for this was right

the square root of 85/35 = 1.55 (35psi is the stock pressure?)

1.55 times 270 = 420cc

I just mean to ask if you rasie the fuel pressure (35psi) on the stock 270cc injectors to 85psi will it make the 270cc injectors flow at a rate of 420cc. I just did the 420cc calcuation because I thought a FMU was only good up to 250hp (or so) and would use one if I could could run up to 320hp.

I realize that I would only be able to run 7psi of boost, but hopefully I will have a custom intake manifold plus a port and polish, so I think that even at 7 psi I could be running close to 300hp at the fly.

But I found RC's website and found the equations and made sure I recalled them correctly. So I will use a 8:1 FMU from Vortech for my fuel. The 8:1 should make 91psi of fuel in the rail. I think that the 8:1 will be ok since the nsprort runs a 7:1.

Of couse if i decide to go for more boost I will have to go standalone or JWT. But for now I should be find with the FMU and for only $140 it not an expensive part if I change my mind.
