I'm lookin to buy an FMIC now that my boost controller is here. My question is what's a decent (non crappy) FMIC that I can get on a budget of around $400 (shipped) that doesnt require pipe fabrication? What battery should I get so I don't have to relocate it? And is this a process that an engine modification noob such as myself can perform themselves w/o pressure drop, boost leak, etc? (Changing fuel lines is pretty much the limit of what I can do confidently) thanks for the input.

Oh did you even search. Took me 2 min on google http://www.zeroyon.com/index/content/view/30/47/ for the love of god FU*king search.

It can be done by a noob all it requires is to drill a hole in the battery tray big enough to fit the piping through, and of course to take off the front bumper and cut it to fit the fmic. As far as battery relocation you can use the Wesco Slimline from phase 2 http://phase2motorsports.store....html so you dont have to relocate it.

There are a few guys running the Ssacrap intercoolers and from what they have said it works great. As far as getting one for 400 with piping do some work 4 your self i think i've given you a good starting point.

You should be able to run a miata battery, just turn it sideways and WALLA!

Or you can be awesome and get a relocation kit from Summitracing for fairly cheap, that's what I'll be doing here shortly.

When you get the SR? . I suck horribly at wiring. Relocation is NOT an option trust me. . I'll just go with a slim cell from westco or XS engineering. I think I'm gonna go with the Greddy VSPL probably in about 2 weeks. Next step? 12 PSI and a Koyo Rad!!!!!!

Actually I'll probably do the relocation during Fall Break, it'll give me something to do and it's just one step closer to having an awesome KA-T or SR setup....

I'm having a hard time understanding... cheap and fast don't really go together. There's no intercooler system available that will handle your (apparently over 400hp?) goals for $400.

If I may make a suggestion, Save the $400, don't get a FMIC that won't appreciably help your T25 setup anyway, and wait to buy a Vspec or Blitz at the same time as when you spend the thousands of dollars outlined in your sig to make enough power to actually justify the purchase of a FMIC that performs better than a $400 one. since you're on a budget and all. If you want to play with your boost controller you can always find an ARC smic which is stock location replacement and will handle 300hp no problem (larger than an S15 SMIC and S15's are 260hp). you can usually find them for under $300.

the M-Spec is identicle to the HDi core but with all the trusted thick *** GReddy piping that you KNOW will fit, decent couplers and hi-tq wormgear clamps. People who have used both say the M-Spec just lags a little more since the core has more volume to pressurize than the slightly more efficient Vspec.

Haha. I was waitin for someone to call me on that . At the time I posted this I was smack dab in the middle of paydays but I get paid this friday and its been awhile since I've spoiled myself so my budget is likely more in the 700-> 800 range. So the MSPL creates more lag? I want to just go with the VSPL but like I mentioned before I dont wanna end up at 400 and decide I want more, and have to buy a new intercooler. However after ridin in s14det's KA-T i think 350->400 will be plenty .

sorry-

that was hypocritical of me, i bought the m-spec a week ago and I don't have more than a t25. whatever plans i have for my car i fulfill little by little instead of agonizing over saving up for so long to buy everything in one shot.

i do have an ARC smic which lets me run at ~14psi so I need a fmic even less than you, but i still bought it. it'll at least be nice to have a fmic for looks

ill have to write a review after my slim battery arrives. It's actually more than i was looking for... i may sell my ARC and buy a smaller johnnyracecar intercooler just to play around, see if i notice a difference in response over the larger m-spec core. I haven't dynoed my car, but it feels plenty quick on a stock tune at 14psi. I think the S15 t28 will be capable of more than I'll need, which is cool cuz the gt28r build boost quick.

Did you know the new Lotus Europa reaches full boost at 2000 rpm? thats got to be a fun car

How much did you get yours for? Koukicody gave me a link for one for $392. I think I might go in steps then. With college I wont be upgrading horsepower drastically any time soon. Definitely review it and let me know the skinny. [email protected]

Is the miata battery small enough to be able to do that with the greddy m-spec?

(just ordered a greddy mspec on monday, it will be here 2morrow!!cant wait)

the miata fix "should" work for all standard size intercooler piping. You can always take batteries back to autozone and what not so why not give it a shot. Its no risk really

I'd think it would however it probably wont last as long as a regular battery. But dont take my word for it because I suck at all things electrical, thats why I didnt wanna relocate the battery

slim batteries are good at having comparable cranking amps to standard batteries, but they suffer slightly in the cold and don't hold their full power between charges for as long as a traditional battery. They are also meant ONLY to run the starter motor for a short burst, they will die rapidly if you listen to your stereo without the motor running, and are also not meant to handle large current spikes that any subwoofer amp would require.

so basically a slim battery is just used to start the car. and save weight and make room for better things.
