Ok i may just be stupid, but im pricing out everything i will need for a sr swap into my s13. i plan on keeping the sr stock. This is my senior project next year and i want to keep it simple. so my question is, do u need a FMIC and will the power be significantly lost without it?

Come on man use your head. The power figures quoted for the SR20 are USING the SMIC. A front mount will give you a little bit more but it will be more resistant to heat soak if you're beating on the car. If you want to keep everything stock then just go with a SMIC if it comes with your clip/motorset. If you have to source one they are pretty cheap when compared to a FMIC if you shop around.

the stock fmic heatsoaks... even stock boost heatsoaks it. If u want to go smack the revlimiter for 20 mins in a parking lot -- get a fmic. side mounts are ok- but seriously. its worth the $ - you'll see similar results adding a fmic as with adding 3inch exh.
