$5? I'm assuming you had a lot of the stuff alreadyAt some places, the new wire you need is almost 5 dollars a FOOT.not including the different ends for the ground and such at a dollar a piece. And a battery box for ~20AND you need an inline fuse. Which is like another 20WI_240sx wrote: and it cost me 5 dollars to do it..
Autozone can order it for you. Have them check the HUB and have it sent to the store of your choice. They cost around $90 for the Duralast Gold if I remember correctly.sjbsuperman1425 wrote:bought the car with no motor, and bought a CA18 motorset a month ago and have been piecing it together ever since. where can i get a Miata battery anyway? Autozone and Advance Auto dont sell them and those are the only two parts stores around here. should i just go to the Dealership?
Autozone has to special order the battery. I got my Duralast gold from Autozone for $87 and it came with a 3 year free replacement warranty.sjbsuperman1425 wrote:bought the car with no motor, and bought a CA18 motorset a month ago and have been piecing it together ever since. where can i get a Miata battery anyway? Yeah, but I have heard of and seen waaay to many people with odessey batteries trying to charge them because it died on them. It tends not to hold a charge very long, which can be a problem if it is a daily driven car. If you forget your headlights on, you are screwed pretty fast.sr20deTsomeday118 wrote:it takes prob around 280-350 to crank it, you guys should just buckle down and buy a odessey pc680...its half the size of a miata battery with 680 cranking amps out of the box...i have been working at a freakin battery store where all we sell is batteries...this has been used in countless racing vehicles including 2 240's who needed high power low weight batteries. it is approximately 7"L by 3" W by 6.5" H whereas the miata battery being a group size U1 is 7.75"L by 5.3"W by 7.4"H. ENJOY!
find some one that works at one in your area. "cough make friends, "me" cough" and have them use a discount on it. 8 year warrenty, 3 yr free replacement, 5 yr prorate, 3 yr free jump start assis. comes w/ it tooTulsa_S-13 wrote:

lawn and garden batteries come in 2 sizes U1 and 22nf the U1's come in 2 grades a normal version with, if memory serves me right, 235 CCA and a HP grade that comes with 300.sjbsuperman1425 wrote:hey burntricer, how many CCA's does that Energizer Lawn Tractor battery have? im just worried that it wont start it all the time or something.
i guess so... i reused the origional ground cable, got a free 1g wire from my friend, and reused the mounting bracket, just drilled holes in the body, and fit some very long bolts to hold it down... like i said, 5 dollars for battery terminals(could have reused old ones but they were in rough shape..) i am however goin to buy a case over it, just for a little extra security..sjbsuperman1425 wrote:ok, so correct me if im wrong but..from what i've gathered here is that the Battery Relocation, a Mazda Miata Battery, and a Lawn Garden Tractor Battery ARE ALL SUITABLE ways of using a FMIC and have the car run like usual.
From experience all i can say is that you better be willing to also buy a trickle/float charger to maintain that battery otherwise you will be buying another battery come next spring. just a little heads upsjbsuperman1425 wrote:alright, Thanks alot everybody for your help. im probably going to go to Sears one of these days and pick up a Tractor Battery. I wont be driving this in the winter either, if it matters lol. Im truly grateful to all
