uh....you want to make a 25% reduction in displacement? you could just unplug one fuel injector? Iwhats the motivation? to be different? it's been done, not too comon because it's and expensive car and an expensive swap.... and it's less displacement!I'm guessing you aren't happy with the power output of your curent kit? what kit do you have? what supporting mods do you have? I know there are 350Z's putting down 800whp with turbo kits so the sky is the limit but the more power you want the more it's gonna cost you, there is even a stroker kit complete with sleved block that takes the displacement all the way to 4.2 but it ain't cheap;) so please tell us more about what you have and what you want

as for the potential swap, I've not seen any used turbo kits for sale but I've seen the motor and trans used from $1500-3000 mostly depending on how cmplete and milage, and an RB26DETT with RB25DET trans is what $4500? and mopst of the supporting mods would be needed for both engines

GIven that you'd have to pay 4500-7k for a RB installed, plus any upgrades, you'd be better off (until the 700hp mark, anyway) just doing work on the existing, and fantastic VQ that is in the vehicle now.

A nice twin turbo kit will set you back 5k and get you around 400rwhp. with a smooth torque curve.

Now, the RB has more revvs, and a higher proven power capability, but these engines are built beyond belief and you could easily build a VQ similarly.

I have seen an RB in a 350Z, making about 410hp, and it was cool...but even the owner admitted he could have gotten that kind of power with a turbo or supercharger kit on the factory engine without the hassle....but it was pretty cool to see.

And you could use the old 260Z badge for craps and giggles.
