So after much debating I decided the OS what a little too much for my setup being as I'm not even making 300 hp so I just decided to go with a regular type clutch and flywheel setup rather then anything fancy. Wondering though who/where has the best flywheel for our CA's????? I've looked at quite a few. I do kinda want the chromoly not Aluminum...... Any thoughts???

Ok so questions about that.... I have read/heard sooooo many mixed reviews about SPECanyone confirm they last a long time after being broken in properly?, also about Centerforce, anyone know if spec has a chromoly flywheel? I think I just remember seeing the aluminum ones, and I don't think I'm about to do that. Alot of people have also sworn by act to, anyone ever used an exedy? Def staying away from ebay clutches like xtd and f1 and such, after finding out about carbon clutches too I think I really want something with a more "stock"ish feeling, but with the ability to hold over 300hp(little less torque) as I don't ever anticipate being over that number. Anyone has a performance clutch that they have had on for over 17,000 miles?

I have had a Kayaba metal single on my car for pretty much its whole life. Its basically a uprated Nissan pressure plate with a 3-puck copper clutch disc. I am going to replace it this time around, but it still has life left in it, and I have been running it for probably 40-50k miles. It would probably make it another 30k easily. Cusco makes a "metal single" clutch that is essentially the exact same thing, and I have recommended it time and time again.

Oh, but it doesnt feel stock at all. Its a lot like the clutch feel of a diesel F350 super duty. It will damn near take your leg off in traffic.

JUN makes a chromoly flywheel for the CA, as does Cusco. Here is the JUN one:

Although right now you get absolutely raped by the exchange rate. I have seen it as low as $300 even.

EDIT: Here is the Cusco clutch disc. Found it on RHDJapan. http://www.rhdjapan.com/cusco-metal-sin ... disc-62274

Awesome thanks man, yeah the cusco looks great. I think I will go with that then because I need something that can really last along time as well as taking a beating every once in awhile. Now I don't see where it is compat. with the CA listed on there. DO I have to mod my trans bell housing to get it to work? (like ex doing it like you would for an sr setup with the hoodless starter and grinding those edges inside down?) Or can I just get a flywheel pressure plate and go?

I dont know about the cusco but Ive heard good things about the spec flywheel for the ca18 as far as quality and durability goes. Im a big centerforce and act fan. I really prefer the centerforce dual friction but I got a super good deal when i was clutch shopping so i bought my act extreme 6 puck. its lasted about 20k so far. the centerforce in my ka went about 30k before i pulled it and swapped to my ca and it still had life left in it.

Oh sorry man, that link isn't for the CA18, I just wanted to show you what it looks like. They (RHDJapan) might have one for the CA, or you can look for one for a SR20DE. So long as it is 225mm it ought to work.

The one currently bolted to the end of the crank will do fine. There are better things to spend a limited budget on. Stock flywheel with a heavy duty clutch and pressure plate will get er done. The O.S. does jingle the plates nicely, though. I've had races get canceled the minute I clutched in at the telltale rattle of a twin plate started. I guess they figure someone with a clutch like that has need of it and is thus more than they want to mess with.

I'm currently running a JUN 13lb flywheel and a SPEC StageIII+ clutch w/o any problems. I was running an S15 T28 @18psi on it for a while w/o any issues. It will soon be seeing 400+hp, and we'll see how it does then.

But as TMS said, the stock flywheel will be fine if you're on a budget.

So for the stocker flywheel, should I just have it resurfaced then and go all out on a sweet clutch? Or should I just buy a new flywheel (oem) instead of having the old one machined? I haven't pulled it yet so I don't know the condition....

Arms all the way if you can afford it. They appear to be built off MHI turbo's so their durability will be uncompromised. Atleast for the 7960 and 8270.

^what he said.
if your on a budget, you should also look into a TD04L turbo from a Subaru WRX (non STi). the suby guys sell em real cheap cause most of them upgrade to VF34 (STi) turbos. Ive seen turbo 4AG corollas hit 22psi at 3200rpms with that turbo. the only downside is you would need the VF flange to weld it onto your manifold and maybe a custom downpipe.

just my .02

i would have thought the td04 would have been a little small??? Insight please. forced performance sells the td05 20g for like 550 new. only draw back is its a t3 flange but Ive made many flanges and its not hard to hack a manifold and replace it. theyre a true 400hp turbo too and have that wonderful MHI durability. Back to the td04, Im listening.
