Hey guys, I have had my flywheel resurface for about a month now, but last week my dad was moving stuff around and let it sit out with some "cover". After coming home, I saw it sitting there with some slight surface rust. Should I waste another $80 in machining or just slightly sand it down. If sanding is ok, what grit should I sand it with or just use some of those wool stuff? Thanks

If it is minor surface rust with no pitting, i would take some wd-40 and spray the rust. Then take some 500 or 1000 grit sandpaper and gently rub across the flywheel. the rust should come off easy with out damaging the flywheel.

dont worry about it. the clutch will burn all of that off the first time the engine runs.

I agree.

sometime the machine shop will spray off the flywheel with brake cleaner or solvent tank it to get any machine oils off, other times they will leave that up to you.

I'd jsut put it on and run it, it will frind off the first time you let off the clutch

Next time spray it down with WD-40 if you know its going to sit for some time. Then after installing it make sure to spray the surface down with brake cleaner.
