What is the best flywheel for the ca18det. I am currently helping build a ca18det in a '87 pulsar which has the ca18de engine but has the ca16de transmission and flywheel. Would it be better to get a ca18det lightened flywheel or stay with the ca16de flywheel, i know the ca16 is a little lighter than the ca18 lightened flywheel, but also it is said to only go to 6psi before slipping. Can anyone help me out.

Well, i saw this earlier and i wasn't going to answer b/c i wasn't really sure...but since it has sat here with no responses, i'll add something to it. I would think that a lightened CA18 flywheel would be better than the stock ca16. Although i'm not sure but if you switch to the CA18 flywheel would you have to change to a clutch and pressure plate for the CA18? If you would then i would stay with the 16 b/c that would be alot of things to buy just for a flywheel change. Or they could be exactly the same and you wouldn't have to change clutches, in that case i'd go CA18.

The clutch and pressure plate are different on the ca16 and ca18. The only reason I would change it is because I want it to be able to take more than 6psi of boost without slipping.

Well...if you've got the money and especially if the stuck clutch is getting fairly worn. I would definately go with the lightened CA18 flywheel and get the new clutch/pressure plate.
