Can someone give me the torque specs for the flywheel, pressure plate, and rear main seal retainer? I completely forgot the specs and was referencing the KA24DE flywheel and pressure plate specs (110-125 ft/lbs and 66-69 ft/lbs via ALLDATA). I also have specs for the SR20DE for 96+ SE-Rs. i completely forgot the rear main retainer specs.

And could someone confirm if the flywheel is surfaced flat like a KA (meaning no step in)? What should I tell the machinist when I bring the flywheel in for resurfacing?

Flywheel Specs: 94-101 ft/lbsPressure Plate Specs: 22-33 ft/lbsRear Main Seal Retainer Specs:???

Flywheel Resurface Specs (if any) : ???

flywheel was done today. i noticed that the rear main seal was good when i pulled it out (well i damaged it so of course i need to change it now). i think that the leak is coming from the lower oil pan as well because the seal between the block and pan leaks when you depress the bottom portion of the pan.

noticed also that the valve cover was leaking a little bit onto the transmission's top. so i fixed that.

slave cylinder is shot. any ideas on how to bypass the damper box for cheap? i dont want to purchase the nismo line right away, but unless the mod is worth it, suggestions are open. and why is the nismo slave so expensive? is it really that big of a difference?

anyway, im still wondering about the pressure plate torque. anybody have it?

omg bad news guys. while my friend and i were torquing the flywheel down to 94 ft/lbs, one of the bolts just broke off. so now i have the lower end of a bolt in the crank. is there anyway i could remove this? and does anybody have a spare SR20 flywheel bolt (or identical)? i will paypal money to whoever can name me a fair price.

what would happen if you bolt up the transmission like that, with one flywheel bolt broken but the rest torqued in sequence. i need my car back on the road so i can save my gas. my friend said it would be okay, but ive heard that it can create some sort of imbalance at mid/high rpm? someone confirm this for me, please! weaksauce.

so this is prolly a dumb question, but are those the right torque specs for the SR? I mean, you said that you broke on of the flywheel bolts....And did you ever figure out the rear main seal retainter torque?

well the FSM even says 94-101 ft/lbs. as far as the rear main seal, i opted to get a seal puller so i didnt have to unbolt the plate. to unbolt the plate u have to remove bolts within the crank case.

i just torqued them all to 85 and used loctite.

thanks, i spent the last 20 minutes trying to get that rear main seal cover off with no luck, so i guess i'll try it your way and buy a seal puller. And us said u used loctite? Thats some sort of adhesive? I did a search on google and thats what came up.

yes sir. always use loctite on flywheel bolts so u know they wont wiggle loose during harsh conditions. and always have a reliable torque wrench. make sure to tighten the bolts every other time (like if you start from the top, do the bolt at the bottom, and then right to left, and so on). and do it in steps (like if you plan to torque it to 94, do it in 3 increments of 30, and inch slowly to the final torque).

do em in a criss cross. Didn't have any problems with mine.

rear seal, you can pry out with a small flat head screw driver.

How did you guys torque the flywheel w/out it turing with the crank? Im doing this by myself...and just holding the flywheel is definitly not gonna do it.

impact wrench. if you don't have access to one, you can always pop a 27mm socket on your crank pulley bolt and use that to hold the crank steady.

its so much easier to pull the motor out than to pull the transmission by itself. again however, that experience comes with doing motor swaps all day long. haha.
